Are the board exams that difficult? Is there any prejudice against ppl who travel out of the country who come back and try to get the license? Let us know breh
its hard. very hard.

there's no prejudice but there's holes they gotta go through that domestic doctors dont. extra year of internship, wait period etc etc. we have specific protocols that are a little tougher than other countries to prevent malpractice, so even if youre a 20 year vet from india you still have to meet our standards and go through the protocol.

im 26 right now. would it be a decent move if i wanted to take that leap or should i just try to get it in the states? i already got student debt as it is

edit: your idea is pretty much what i had in mind, travel the world help the underprivileged. medicine is supposed to be about altruism anyways.

you already have debt? do you have a BS already? or do you want to start from scratch (carry over existing credits, then meet perquisites, then medical school)
I dunno but my brother had loads of scholarships, so his debt isnt that bad. he had top grades, valedictorian and all that, plus being a minority, they paid for a lot of his school. but I hear being a doctor in the states is EXPENSIVE AS fukk. A lot of doctors spend a good 5-7 years living basic to pay that off before they go baller mode. at least with cuba you wont have debt.....sure you'll have a slightly longer wait time, extra internship....but at least you wont have dat debt doe.

yeah debt is the real boogy man in the room, because if you don't take care of your finances properly, or decide that career isn't for you(happens alot) that interest and debt aint going nowhere.

most college debt is like paying for an extra car, but that medical student debt is like paying for a socal house :damn:

you paying for 2 houses your first 10 years out of college, that shyt is crazy.

my dad wanted all of us to be drs. my lil brother became one and my lil sister became a pharmacist. i became a graphic designer :troll:. its not my fault, anything to do with blood, flesh, puss, I'm good breh :scust: some old ass lady coming in with some big ass puss filled wart that you gotta drain, shyt is foul. stitching back a finger and shyt. oh hell naw.

my brain is artistic, its not my fault, I was born this way. He accepts my eccentric nature now, in fact my siblings kinda envy it, my nephews and nieces call me the cool uncle that lives in asia lol. im like a vagrant but hey I aint got no debt and i get to see the world so im good. :manny: everyone picks their own movie.

its the same test regardless of where you came from

imo if you arent getting a's and b's in math, chemistry and physics you should stop trying to become an american doctor, the american system is a science based system, foreign schools tend to be fact based (they just teach you facts)

the chances of going to cuba for medical school and becoming a practicing american doctor are about zero

free medical school and you are complaining? there's so many africans here in china studying medicine, because its cheaper.

it is true tho, its pretty hard to pass the U.S exam, my lil brother is an anesthesiologist, he went to hell and back at UCLA, even my british doctor said the U.S is hands down the hardest he went through, UK and Canada close second (was surprised to hear about canada since a lot of their students come to america, but i think the pay is better thats why)

But here's the thing......why not become a doctor in cuba then go to black countries like congo to help them out instead? yall talk about "if there's employment ill go back to africa" well they need LOADS of doctors, you have a skill in high demand, no excuse to be afraid to pick an african country and go.

when I went to venezuela I saw a lot of black doctors in the free clinics Chavez put up near the favelas. My cab driver said they were making good cheese too, a lot of them didnt even go back to cuba, they just stayed and got married. I figure they go from cuba to venezuela to help other black latinos. we have an endless supply of doctors in the U.S. might as well help out your own else where.

stop it, any american going to cuba to be a doctor is stupid or ignorant, its an extremely dumb idea, you can make more money working at a fast food joint than a cuban doctor working in venezuela

we do not have an endless supply of doctors in the us,we actually have a shortage

breh just stop it, no degree out of cuba will be respected in the us, unless you are trying to make a political statement, stop barking up that tree

if you really want to become a doctor there are dozens of english speaking medical schools all over the caribbean that have actual track records....but again, if you dont have the science and math i wouldnt recommend going to the Caribbean either

My mom (Jamaican) worked with Cuban doctors while she was working around the Caribbean.

Said they were some of the smartest doctors she's ever worked with.

Cuba was training doctors from T&T and Grenada for cheap, while the US was giving them the :mjpls:: treatment, saying it wasn't a viable investment.

They specialize in preventative medicine, so they wouldn't exactly fit in with the "treatment selling" of America's medical system.

Hope this program reaches other cities.
