They wanted that education and to be closer to white daddy this is what they get.
Its not what they deserve, but hey they wanted that education they know they are in America right?
The white man is just going to give you a piss poor education then charge the hell out of you for it.
If we look within ourselves we have all we need to be able to teach ourselves and each other.
We can do it.
ITS ALL IN US WE CREATED EVERYTHING.
NEVER FORGET WHO YOU ARE!
YOU HAVE PURPOSE!
I graduated last summer and had more than that in debt. I was lucky to just land in a job that pays well so I'm throwing a lot of my money at my debt and have paid about 30% off since this fall.
I went to a state school and stayed at home and got a scholarship each semester of undergrad. my grad degree was half funded by the school. I didn't qualify for work study (even tho work study was very low at my school-I know bc I worked in the student employment office).
Black students period are honestly not well prepared for the financial part of college. I had to learn most of it myself.
Just didn't want an MBA or wasn't ready for it. I didn't have any real experience. What happened, breh?
It really is 22 posts in. SmhThread is already devolving into a "we hate Black women" thread.
But this is the result of being Black, essentially.
Underfunded school districts, parents who likely didn't go to college and are unaware of opportunity, private schools and incredibly high-tuition, predatory student lending, Black students taking longer to graduate than other races of students, Black students shying away from STEM fields due to poor mathematics education in primary and secondary school, and lack of camaraderie in their majors. All of these apply to Black women doubly, as thy attend college at higher-rates than Black men, and the misogyny in STEM is very real.
White supremacy and racism has something to do with this too. The most educated demographic in America still gets paid the least.
Black Women Business Owners Outpace All Other Startups Six Times National Average
In fact 1 in 3 blk women are actually business owners. Which is why I roll my eyes at people talking about blk women on welfare b/c the majority of blk women have never used welfare and in fact only 1/2 of blk single moms are below the poverty level.
"30% of all U.S. businesses women now own
14% of all U.S. businesses controlled by black women
9.4 M Total number of firms owned by women
1.3 M Total number of firms owned by black women
297,500 Workers employed by black women-owned firms
$52.6 B Revenues generated by black women-owned firms"
As for the single mom stats, FINALLY somebody gets it! So tired of carrying the burden for being a trifling baby mama when most of us don't even have children OOW.
And your right, 1 Shenqua having 3 to 4 of the blk kids being born is where those single mom stats get skewed.
It's unfortunate but those are the baby boomers for our race by multiple blk men.
Problem is, for whatever reason educated blk men and educated blk women aren't getting together and making children at the same rate. A lot of blk women are actually unwilling to be single mothers so they don't have kids at all. And even if blk women did lower their economic expectations which many do, white supremacy strikes again with blk male incarceration rates which takes millions of blk males out of our community OR gives them jail time which economically cripples them when they get out of prison.
You can't TELL me this shyt isn't by design.
Women in general are more educated than men simply because they are allotted more time to finish UG and go onto Grad or a PHD program. They can stay at home well into their 30s and won't be shamed for being in school for so long.
Men however are consistently pressured to finish HS and be financially independent asap or "You are a bum"...
American society is designed to prop women up by default..
Yup just like my ex......went to one of those bullshyt fly by night colleges like VIRGINIA COLLEGE and got a pharmacy tech "degree"....
Only to wind up working at a local hospital here for 14 bucks an hour
She was struggling.....school debt is still kicking her azz
She invited me to her birthday party via Facebook cause her phone is OFF ...again
Let's be real, most Black men aren't STEM majors. That being said, most Black men look to degrees where money is everything. Women think about a myriad of thingsWhat are those women and men studying in college?
Women tend to flock to soft majors that don't pay well after graduation.
All four-year degrees aren't created equal.
The work and effort a sociology major has to put in to graduate is not the same as what an engineering major has to put in.
No disrespect to sociology majors. But, engineering majors get paid more for a reason.
Y'all is Pharmacy Tech something that is still worth pursuing? I remember folks pushing that when I was in school.
One of your best posts I've read in awhile. This is exactly what it is. Unless you are an elite student and been around these types since middle school, it's hard to just get into it in college.Thread is already devolving into a "we hate Black women" thread.

No. Not at all. Pre pharmacy is to fullfil the reqs to become a pharmacist. I honestly think pharmacy is maxed out for Black women and women in general. If you are a Black man, you need to be able to handle going to cactown USA and being a pharmacist there because there is a need in small America but the cities are maxed out even in retailY'all is Pharmacy Tech something that is still worth pursuing?
