beat it. Story is ass, dialogue is ass, a lot of the voice acting is ass.

Genesis is a cornball try hard.

level system is stupid, its basically a slot machine praying u roll a triple 7 from the DMW. same with leveling materia, just annoying.

graphics are fine, but the non updated CGI cutscenes really show their age.

extremely repetitive gameplay, but its serviceable. magic is OP.

music was solid.

there was so much nonsense in this game from progression to story I kept asking myself "who the fukk signed off on all these decisions?"....then I got to the credits and see "Director/Program Lead Tetsuya Nomura. Of course. Of fukking course. A game chock full of nonsense? Very on brand for him, I shoulda known he was behind the fukkery.

Yeah, once you take the nostalgia blinders as a good PSP game off you kind of remember its actually pretty goofy.

I assume this won’t be the last time we revisit the final fantasy 7 compilation and come to the same realization

that was the worst era of Square for me. FF7 spinoffs through 13 trilogy.

watch em sign off on a Dirge of Ceberus remake🤢

Beat it over the weekend.

I have no idea why people saying the story was ass. shyt was cool to me personally with a SUPER emotional ending.

Zack’s last words really hit me. I stand by the opinion that Zack>>>>Cloud as a protagonist. He’s more personable, easier to root for, and you get a sense why people found him an inspiring figure and why somebody like Aerith would like him.

The only weak character was Genesis, and thats because all that Loveless poetry quoting got old but this is a JRPG. Conflicted, Emo, Lofty speaking antagonists are part of the package.

Game gets a 7.5/10 for me. Part of me wishes they would have done a little more to tie the ending into FF7 Remake canon but I guess the FF7 remake needs to play out as a trilogy before that call is made.

Man this game did not age well at all as far as gameplay goes.
I agree the story is great if you're a fan of FF7.
I'm playing the game on hard and the difficulty spikes can be brutal.
I made it all the way to the
Angeal Boss Fight
with relatively no problems and absolutely 0 grinding. If you aren't AT LEAST level 30 by this boss fight you are going to get absolutely destroyed. Attacks range from 700hp to +3,000. I was grossly underleveled for this fight despite having done a bunch of the side missions. This boss fight forced me to double back, complete every available side mission just to get to level 30. I'm gonna give the fight another try tonight but it's crazy how bad they did with the scaling. Those side missions essentially aren't optional at all if you're playing on hard, and what sucks is that those side missions are incredible repetitive and boring.
I'm definitely gonna finish the game but currently at 50% of the way through, the game is feeling like a serious chore to play through.

Yeah, I bought it last week since I never finished it on PSP.

Did they really use the PSP FMV sequences for the Summonings? :dead:
Yes.
It's almost a direct port with some resolution bumps here and there.
Cutscenes are ripped straight off the PSP.
The game doesn't look terrible. The gameplay is what feels the most out of place in 2023.
The roulette style of summons and limit breaks is obnoxious.

True. I'm still enjoying it though, but it definitely feels like they coulda done more "remastering". LOL

Just beat the game.
Last boss fight was another test of patience. Crazy high hp with an incredibly repetitive move set. The combat in this game has so much potential but it’s just way to monotonous. The story is great though and the ending is a must see/experience for any fan of FF7. I wish they fleshed out the relationship with Zack and cloud and zack and aerith a bit more but in the end, it still hit the right emotional notes to make the point it was trying to make. It’s really a shame this game didn’t get the full FF7 remake treatment because the story is important and the experience from a narrative perspective is special.
Hate to say it but due to the incredibly repetitive nature of everything game play wise I have to give it a 6 out of 10. It’s not “trash”….but it has its moments where it feels too much like a chore. The gameplay wasn’t necessarily strong when it first came out and in perspective, it didn’t age well at all.

TYRONE GA!
Grinded to level 30.
Combined materia to get HP++ to get 9999 HP.
Bought Hell Thundaga and Hell Blizzaga.
Now I’m back to mopping the floor with everyone.

Finished it last night.

Was at level 48 since I was doing those side missions like crazy. Still only got to 55% of them, but I was so overpowered by the end that I didn't get hit once during my final fight with
Genesis
. :laff:

My man Zach went out like a G :mjcry:

Tifa during the side missions was :skip: status

Lazard :mjcry:

Angeal :mjcry:

Now on to Forwoken. :wow:

I feel you. Had it at 8/10 myself. Enjoyed it more than FF15 which started out way too slow, but picked up good at the end.
