This was fantastic! Acting wise, Michael B. Jordan knocked it out of the park, and Stallone showed surprising emotional depth. Reminded me of his early days. Movie never dragged, it was engaging from the first frame. I was worried about an older Rocky training Creed's son coming off like a white savior and paternalistic, but this really was about them helping each other in different ways. No white savior here
That's how you do it! And the soundtrack was
Mostly old school hip-hop, which was refreshing. However, one scene using a Meek track as the Philly riders raced by Jordan stood out as particularly iconic. Oh, and the training and fight scenes
... were so raw. The hits looked real as hell and like they hurt like a motherfukka Storyline was cohesive and simple, dialogue was pretty good, lots of unexpected humor. There were a few contrived moments, but they were very few. Overall, I would rate this in the top 3 Rocky movies, actually, if it counts as one. But really, it's a homage and a new beginning.
Two thumbs up.
