401k is through my job.
IRA is through USAA.
I use Betterment.com for my other investments. (Highly recommended, I'm at 50-something percent roi since 2012)
And Ameritrade for trades.
Im on USAA right now. I'm a member and I'm ex military. I'm thinking about just doing the First Start Fund or putting down 500 because that gives you more options.

Honestly, having been there for a while, most of their funds really aren't that great. USAA as a bank or as an insurer is 5* all the way. But I'm not really sold on their IRA offerings; they're a bit expensive. I'd advise anyone to just stick with Vanguard.

Are you knowledgable about any credit unions? I'm a member of Navy federal credit union

When you say USAA is a bit expensive, is there an annual fee you are speaking of or just the price of the investments?

It's not free, I forget what the fees are but it's pretty negligible. But any brokerage is going to charge a fee. Even if you use Ameritrade and do your own trades it's like $4.95 per trade or something.

Here this shows what the fees are that I've paid since opening the acct in 2012.

Last thing...

Unless you're looking to invest over a very long term (10 years or longer) I'd say you probably want to stay out of the market right now. Every expert every analyst believes that a market correction (crash) is coming and coming soon. Nobody really knows when, but if you opened an acct with Betterment today, you would lose a good chunk of money in the short term when the market crashes.

Edit: Actually you wouldn't really lose money it'd just be paper losses vs actual losses, but it would make investing not very fun for you for the first few years.

I have an account with CDC Federal Credit Union and I haven't had any problems with them. My primary account is with Citizens Trust Bank

Are you investing in a fund or are you investing in individual stocks at betterment?
