Yep, but from my experience in manufacturing a lot of these companies can manufacture other things. It just isn't as profitable so they focus on something else. Also a lot of companies use to build other things but they might have stopped due to competition or did a cost benefits analysis and determined if would be as profitable.

Remember ford and GM stopped building cars in WW2 and started building planes.

Biggest thing in manufacturing is getting the right equipment and setting up the manufacturing lines and getting the right logistics. The logistics with the sub tier suppliers and getting the manufacturing equipment is the hardest thing. But making underwear and shoes to making masks isn't that big of a stretch.

So the assembly lines and equipment probably don't need really any change over. Just the work instructions, manufacturing processes and inspection techniques will need to be changed. So that won't be that much of a hurdle.

I still stand by that the environment in china and the peole there is the biggest issue.

As I mentioned on here before I have worked in china and india. The difference is that the environment in china (the air is not clean). In the big cities darn near everyone has a cough due to the horrible smog. Many people also smoke a lot.

But in india the air is very clean compared to china and I don't think I have seen a person even smoke a cigarette in India.

So IMO the virus can easily spread in china even if folks have no symptoms because everyone has a cough (or a lot of folks have a cough).
