For those interested in making their own masks.

To test various masks and fabrics, the team pumped air through both types of face coverings.

"Our instruments could read down to 0.3 microns, which is about the size of a big virus," Segal said.

Regular surgical masks filtered out 62 percent to 65 percent of particles. For comparison, N95 masks filter 95 percent of those particles.

But the fabrics led to a variety of results. One piece of cloth filtered just 1 percent of particles, rendering it virtually useless, while others were found to perform even better than the surgical masks.

"We had some that performed at 79 percent," Segal told NBC News.

The best masks were constructed of two layers of heavyweight "quilters cotton" with a thread count of at least 180, and had thicker and tighter weave.

Lesser quality fabrics also worked well, as long as they had an internal layer of flannel.

"You do want to use a woven fabric, like batik," Segal said, "but you don't want to use a knit fabric, because the holes between the knit stitches are bigger."

In other words, if the fabric allows for a substantial amount of light to shine through, it's probably going to allow tiny viral particles through, as well.

Sewing your own face mask? Some fabrics work better than others, finds new research

Now its killing elected officials.
I had a theory that it was meant to target officials from jump (most fall into the age and health parameters of those at risk) and everyone else is collateral damage, the middle east lost a grip of politicians already

Let some other politicians in superpower countries die and i bet china magically finds that vaccine to come "save" all the countries falling apart without leadership

Along with their military of course :unimpressed: you wanna save ur grandmother, pleadge allegiance to us.

My bad brehs im reading this sci fi book thats from china, written by a chinese physicist back in 2008. The antagonist developed a flu like virus that was mild with everyone because it was designed to only release deadly toxins once it reached a specific person with a specific genetic code. Basically a bullet that can't miss :wow: just seemed so random for me to the rereading it during this outbreak

Made one off that video using old shirt and elastic from an old sweater. It's two ply and I made it big enough to hold my beard. The elastic I wanted to be adjustable if I need it tighter.

They said you could use two layers of any fabric with a layer of flannel in the middle. :ld:

I'm confused as to why different countries are imposing curfews.
A lot of countries rely on their majority rural populations as a source of labor for their cities. Many of whom have now lost their jobs and have no option but to travel back upcountry and wait it out. Spreading the infection in the process.

A daylight curfew indirectly imposes an unwritten limit on how far anyone can travel by road/rail.

People are still traveling now. Infact it's a chicken or egg type question. Cause by shutting down shyt you are forcing people to migrate to survive thus spreading it from city to rural environments
