Could a one month off season possibly work in wrestling?

People are clueless about how significantly less WWE talent is on the road today versus in the past. The talent today have it easy as hell compared to back in the day.

Very few of them are truly on the road "300 days a year" and those few are compensated in millions of dollars for it.

Your average WWE talent works 3 to 4 days a week at 5-15 minutes per match.

This is exactly why things rarely get fixed in wrestling the plea coppin. People are still sitting down and actually watching raw every week lol.

A publicly traded company will never willingly leave revenue on the table. You owe it to your stockholders to maximize revenue.

They just need to do a better job of giving people a week off every couple of months.

Lets flip that logic, wouldn't it be cheaper to do as someone said and use your endless content every once in a while to give even a week off? Remember when they had that terrible snow storm and hey filmed a live raw at the Stamford offices and it ended up being one of the most memorable and entertaining raw episodes of the year? They had Brock And roman reigns face to face talking shyt, dean Ambrose trying to climb in the damn building and they built up all their angles going in to mania with that episode. Even teased Seth Rollins cashing in his briefcase.

What's to stop them for say December they do nostalgia month and show old clips and feuds and matches with commentary from current and past stars or even doing recaps of guys who had great and not so great years in character?

Five minutes of breezango explaining their fukkery from this year and what they plan on doing the following years would do more then five minutes of them getting beat clean by the hardy boys on a raw in Green Bay. Stronger and more interesting characters means people will care. It's a reason why we have nostalgia for various mid careers of the 80s and 90s yet nobody can remember the names of la resistance or the entire spirit squad

Because a gimmick without being somewhat fleshed out or built up is just a lego man in a different costume

I don't know if some of you guys are just young, or naive or don't have much real world experience.

How would it be cheaper when you take away the revenue?!?!?!?!?! They would be losing money not making it.

Not only would they lose too much live event revenue. They would be in breach of their tv contracts. They will never move to an off-season because their business model is based on running year long.

When a company is public they move different. Even Costco raised the membership fee.

Having an off-season does nothing positive for the company. They just need to build in vacation time between the big four ppvs.

And the dirty little secret......wrestlers on top don't want to take time off. The more shows you work the more money you make. Roman Reigns ain't asking for a week off while he's in the main event.

I'm not saying would hey do it
This is all hypothetical discussion on how could they do it and what would be a way to do it. They still would have television programming on a week to week basis but they could rotate talent from different shows while giving a few guys who want or need it a break and have a stash of talent to pool from who is already over or even fresh to bring in at their beck and call. Times change and the current landscape of wrestling is a more grueling version of a stand up comedians grind. Several nights a week plus appearances to hone your craft and sell tickets/merchandise on the road

But wrestlers careers can be ruined in one trip and we've seen how many guys look after a few bad injuries and too many dates aka Bryan

Even the older guys can barely walk now do to the schedules hey had to endure plus the matches hey had to put on on television and big events

And just like NFL players they get compensated to make that choice. If you ask any wrestler would they do it again 99% say yes. Some of the fans complain more than the actual wrestlers do.

The only wrestlers working that schedule are in the E.

That's my point though
In theory wrestlers do this and can build up their name by picking and choosing what companies and promotions and shows they work

Cody Rhodes has done more on less dates then he did in wwe for his career and gimmick where as guys like dolph Ziggler with comperable talent is burnt out and had at least 15 matches with everyone who could be interesting same as sheamus

No the wrestlers would get fatter & rusty as workers.

Constantly being in the ring keeps the majority fresh.:ehh:

I don't know if a full off-season would ever be considered, but I definitely think they should cycle guys in and out of the rotation. "How can we miss you if you won't go away?" - as the wise man said.
