Nashville had a bad tornado rip through downtown right before the shutdown. Not surprised they’re hurting for money.

Again, “opening up” doesn’t mean demand is coming back. The economy will be hurting for awhile given consumer confidence and unemployment levels.
i know, so don't we want a gradual trickle back? do we want zero demand for 8 more months?

no one is advocating packing sports stadiums. at least im not

No, I mean, the lockdown will end for most everyone by Memorial Day like you said.

I just don’t think people should be in a rush solely for economic reasons. With 25-30% unemployment, people are cash strapped. With an economy based on consumer spending, that demand isn’t coming back like many people expect.

We have states already open or opening. At this stage it doesn't really matter if some remain closed.
Observers will be able to observe the results and use it to make an informed decision.

It’s more like running water through a clogged pipe.

New York, with a diverse economy, would be okay as long as they take precautions but a state like Florida which is tourism dependent is just exposing itself to worse economic conditions when people can’t fill bars, tourist sites, cruises.

I mean Disney on built those large parks to accommodate more tourists. It’s not really meant to downsize if necessary.

the problem is that it's pretty apparent that these governments cant afford to keep shyt closed either :yeshrug: another month of this shyt and we're gonna see bankrupting and defaults left and right. i posted that the mayor of nashville is talking about raising property taxes by 32%. i don't think that's an anomaly

It’s more that American capitalism doesn’t want take socialist tactics to stem the bleeding.

The government would probably have saved money just backing 85% of people’s regular pay than just throwing stimulus and unemployment. People in Europe aren’t complaining about this person getting more money than this worker.
