1,000 people per day DYING!?!? That will pile up to a million people very quickly.
Yeah. Granted it’s a higher end estimate, but he said the CDC’s LOW end estimate for deaths in the U.S. is still over 200k. That’s still about half of what we lost in world war 2. And it’s likely to be higher.

there are so many unknowns. The next week will tell us a lot!

Hold up why aren't cities instituting mandatory quarantines right now? We already know where this is going.

Just call for mandatory quarantine of NYC and that will flatten the fukking curve, everybody loves to talk about, right at the start.

What's the point of me going to work tomorrow by subway picking that shyt up and bringing it home, only for the quarantine to go in effect in two weeks :mjtf:

it is America in a nutshell. Reckless, shortsighted, ignorant, arrogant all rolled up into one. Add the kicker of being able to watch in 1080P HD what is happening around the world in the literal future you just have to keep the cosmic joke in mind while letting the heart break
Yeah, for all the talk of what Trump did and didn't do, everyone seems to overlook the fact that state governments have been aware of the presence of the virus in their jurisdictions since January 15th.

But this is the normal way that the American population thinks about public policy. Trump isn't your governor. Trump's not your mayor. Trump is not the PM of Italy, Canada, or the UK. Trump is not the CEO of Gilead. Trump is not the CEO of your private health insurer.

One can acknowledge Trump's absolute failure as President of the US and the failure of multiple government leaders throughout this country and across the globe.

But Trump has to be the focal point of America's rage because without him then we'll have to blame politicians we like and ourselves.

Everyone at work had been freaking out about this all week...

then come Friday two co workers invited me out for st pattys day drinking :dead:

I’m in denver with 150+ confirmed cases

this virus is gonna be everywhere if it isn’t already by the end of the week
It’s everywhere man. Everywhere. Stay inside if you aren’t already. By the end of next weekend people that have had it will start getting symptoms and we’ll have a better idea of how many people have it.

We are flying blind in America right now. A senior Ohio health officials thinks they have well over 100k just in that state.

apparently the latitude could be a factor? I need to look on a map bit someone told me wuhan, Iran, Milan, and Seattle are all along a similar latitude. Could be bullshyt but I’ll look.

When do you think a potential lockdown of the country might happen? In two weeks from now?

Yeah I’m scared breh. He told me on 2/28 to start preparing because “in 2 weeks people in the U.S. will be starting to panic.” I got my prep done before the lines. You can go back to early pages in this thread. I been posted up in here more than anywhere else on the coli. This thread has been home base. My friend was off by 24-48 hours, but everything else he’s said to me daily in the past 2-3 weeks has been happening just how he said it would.
:merchant:
tonight’s the first night reality is setting in and I’m realizing I think he’s realllyyy right. I’ve been low key freaking out but I’m pretty sad and scared for all of us tonight.
I think the NHL, NBA, and various events closing is what scared the shyt out of many Americans...

I still think it's overblown....

But in a way your friend is right, because while people are "self quarantining" right now, our government isn't nearly doing as much as other countries like South Korea and China to corner the virus. Like collectively we're not doing shyt....

Back at work today. I work on the strip so I know I'm already never going to work from home. So far walking in the place looks empty. Usually on a Saturday morning, we have a ton of drinks stumbling around, party girls and hookers and I haven't seen any of that yet. But one bar I walked by was packed and nobody was keeping their distance

Da restaurant that I work at on da strip was closed today till further notice.

Talked to my epidemiologist friend that I’ve been posting about in this thread since 2/29. He’s pissed and scared tonight. He says based on the U.S. lack of effective action so far that he and a colleague at Johns Hopkins believe that in a month we could be seeing 700-1,000 deaths per day in the U.S.

For context that’s about two 9/11s a week.

By next weekend, we probably be forced to stay indoors.

China already has it contained and nearly defeated. Korea too.

Japan seems not to be that bad either based on some people I know there

For all of you overreacting

USA is not Italy. I think y’all are watching too much IG conspiracy theories

If any place gets bad I could see NYC though

I am legit starting to get worried now. I am not so much worried about the virus itself. Its the fact that our health system is grossly unprepared for this. Once the number of cases start exploding I am worried about how panicked and unhinged the American populace will become. We also have administration that capitalizes on peoples fears and they could start doubling down on their fascist policies. Its just a recipe for something very very bad.

I think the US is in the "let the virus spread through the country and develop the heard immunity" like the UK is doing.

Problem is, and this is a bing effing problem..
You haven't been testing, so you can accurately predict the path of the virus.

The UK is trying to delay the peak of the virus until summer so that the hospitals will be less stressed, but without testing, it's impossible to track that.

It's just going to be chaos.

Wouldn't be surprised if the army hits the streets.
