What? I don't have symptoms or any reason to think I have it. Just like with the flu or similar viruses, I'm not locking myself in my apartment under these circumstances. Of course I don't want to infect other people, but there's a trade-off. If you're at high risk (as demonstrated by the numbers) you should stay home. Ignoring the stats is ignorant.

I also see that you keep trying to push this angle that it only affects certain people and that is not true, those people are at greater risk for contraction but everyone can catch this virus. Did you not see that recent newborn just contracted the virus?

AOC is looking out for everybody breh, not just us. It may seriously affect only certain people but they can still catch it if the rest of us go about our business as usual, even if they stay home. I’ve got friends and family who are old and vulnerable so limiting my social outings in order to decrease their risk sounds more than fair to me, at least until we get a better handle on things.
I hear what you’re saying about not putting life on hold but we’re not under curfew or martial law. We’ve got a choice to look out for each other and we’re seeing what happened overseas when people made the choice to keep living as normal. I’d rather us overreact and be too cautious only for it to end up being overblown.
If this lasts longer than a few weeks the economic damage is going to be insane.
it’s too late for this now, but if it were me, I would have shut down travel from China in January, and if the virus seeped in, I’d lock down all nursing homes and retirement communities and generally tell old people to stay home. This isn’t airborne, you have to touch a surface or get coughed on, if you stay home or even go out with a mask you’re not getting it
