I’m looking at the NYTimes Covid tracker and there’s a noticeable drop in no. of cases and deaths. About 1.8K deaths as of yesterday. A few weeks back we were at almost 4K a day and rising.

To my knowledge, nothing material has changed in the past two weeks concerning safety measures put in place. Only thing that has changed is the sitting president...

These numbers are looking funny in the light :patrice:

you still going out and partying, breh?

ha I wasn't ever really partying, I went to two family parties fro children, and I did go on a lot of dates over the summer with maybe 8 women I knew, but aside from that reckless behavior, I haven't done much. oh and a New Years thing with 8 people. I would say medium/high risk behavior.

It's in this thread a few days back. I will have a look.

The Brits are saying the Germans admit that they lied about the other stuff.

EDIT: this link https://www.thecoli.com/posts/40550343/

Thanks. Ultimately this lies with the Regulatory authority which authorised the clinical protocols for these trials (FDA, MHRA etc). As far as i am aware, Pfizer wouldnt be in cahoots with AZ for their criteria on calculating efficacy - by all means it seems like Pfizer have a pretty lax criteria which makes for pretty good results. In certain context though, the regular flu jabs are expected to have 40-60% efficacy, and i think the CV19 vaccines are showing over 50% atm (moderna, AZ, Pfizer, Sinovac etc).

But does everyone need to get a vaccine? Is the US going for herd immunity which is 70-75% of the population getting vaccinated or are they just trying to vaccinate everyone (which to me would seem like a waste of resources if herd immunity would get the pandemic under control).

The messaging needs to be clear.
I mean this in a nice way. What are you talking about?

Herd immunity is achieved via the vaccine

Sounds like he's trying to say numbers are cooked. Either that they were upped to hurt Trump or lowered now for Biden :beli:

Instead of taking a look at the calendar and seeing that we're now almost a month away from the spikes that happened due to New Years Eve.

Just as we had back to back spikes thanks to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
