What’s really going on is boomers getting scared shytless they’re gonna die early and fukking the rest of us over
Well not all of them are.

Just let this play out and take care of you and yours. You do bring up a good point about old people, everyone should consider the old people in their life, if they can help bring food, medicine to lessen exposure. Also educate them on best practices

I care about my parents and family but I find it hard to care about boomers as a group. They do not give a fukk about us or our needs. I'm talking about on a political and societal level, not a personal level.

BReh kids in schools don’t need breathing assistance even if they get infected. They are not at risk for this disease. I understand sending older staff or teachers home but shutting down the school is going too far in my opinion, you want to just shut down the whole country for a virus that only affects a tiny portion of the population, then that’s fine, but you have to recognize there are trade offs, kids not in school, people losing jobs. For me it’s not worth it. I don’t deny that there’s a psychological and emotional aspect to this, but a lot of that is media driven

Viruses have the possibility of getting stronger so even though they aren’t affected now, the possibility exist keeping them together and moving them around increases the chance.

I went back and forth about the fatality rate wit someone a few pages ago. The fatality rate is not reliable because of selection bias. You need a sample with comprehensive testing, which right now is probably only South Korea (.6% fatality). Italy is way behind on testing in comparison, and so are we

im just not seeing the menace that other people are. What’s really going on is boomers getting scared shytless they’re gonna die early and fukking the rest of us over

Sure, there's some selection bias - but you also have to be realistic about what the situation actually is. In the United States, testing simply isn't happening at that rate, there are people who can't afford to not work, etc.

The US healthcare system just isn't built for this shyt. This definitely is a menace, but not because of the fatality rate. The menace is the ease with which people are infected, really unlike anything we've seen before. Americans are at higher risk than some other countries because of the high prevalence of obesity, cardiovascular conditions, etc.

One of the other main issues is that this is just going to overwhelm the healthcare system if it isn't kept in check. People with other issues will not be able to get on-time medical attention that they desperately need, and there's a chance that a lot of deaths that result from this won't be covid-related at all!

the strip is always dead during the day, but with all the conferences canceled it's even more dead during the week. i don't know what you go for, but i'm sure the strippers will be extra generous with such a decline in clientele. you could also stay at a much better hotel than the flaminog with prices being so low.

i like to gamble a little and hit the spa, would do a show, but they're likely closed. it's crazy a multi night trip to vegas for me would be cheaper than a night in one of Napa resorts I usually go to (shout out to wine caves!)

hella international
San Diego has a massive homeless problem, all across the metro areas of the city, especially. I live in central downtown area, the filthy sidewalks, occasionally, the homeless shooting up and smoking meth on the strete, has all been whatever, but this could spread very easily, and into the shelters. 20 people died from Hepatatis A in 2017 and 2018, mostly homeless.

There needs to be testing kids available to the general public, and in bulk. I am lucky, that I have limited contact with public, but I do use Lyft, and at times MTS, but I am basically self quarantined anyway, working from home, and reading at my house, is a daily routine. But, I am anxious, as I watch the latest updates, and the general public here, is entirely unconcerned, within my social circle. They don't even follow the news, beyond social media. I am speaking to a specific demographic within my circle of friends, it's troubling. Every week or so there is one more person, it feels on the brink, but I hope it doesn't spill over.

I'm actually a lil disappointed this isn't a post linking the southwestern spread of coronavirus to Mexican cartel smuggling routes.:mjcry:

I haven't seen any evidence that people with heart issues are at higher risk--from what we know about the current sample it's usually people with respiratory problems. But I don't deny Americans are unhealthy

Hospitals being overwhelmed is connected to the fatality rate being overhyped though. People are scared. Example of this media bullshyt is blasting alerts like TOM HANKS has Corona. Who gives a fukk? He'll have a cold for a few days and that'll be it. It's all psychological. The running death count is not helping. Not saying this info shouldn't be out there, but my issue is with the way it's being presented. The fact that this virus is coming from a foreign country also plays a huge role IMO
