cornell wants obama to join the legacy of the civil rights movement in the same vein as mlk, etc. dog, he's the president of the us. not president of black people. he can't issue an executive order to give us our 40 acres and a mule or end racism or make black people get off our azz and do for ourselves. it gets at me the wrong way when people say what has obama done for black people. why? because we don't need any president to do for us what we can do for ourselves.
the other problem i have with cornell is he spends a lot of airtime criticizing and i almost never hear him talking about what we can do...or better yet, what's he's doing to help us take control of our own future. i see more ideas passed around the coli than i hear or see from cornell. this dude has a lot of power in his ability to reach people yet he doesn't seem to be using it to do much other than bytch and moan about why obama isn't like mlk. it doesn't bother me that he doesn't like obama, it bothers me that it seems like that's all he's obsessed with. sh1ts annoying.
1. Cornell West never said Obama should be only a Black President. MLK did alot than just civil rights my friend, which you clearly ignored his work for the unions. poor people, women, etc. Obama does what he is told, he isn't going to help out Black People or the poor. He will give Billions of Dollars of our tax money to Israel, the biggest welfare state in the world.
2. Cornell have given massive amounts of ideas. House Negros like Al-Sharp and Jesse don't want to go along with that. Cornell isn't Obsessed with Obama, Republicans are.

seems like cornell's biggest complaints are about what obama hasn't done for the black community. not a stretch that it seems cornell thinks obama should be more activist for black people than he has been. that money going to israel and elsewhere is basically quid pro quo money, not an obama agreement. that's a diffferent discussion altogether though.
there are lots of black people that don't follow al, jesse, cornell or obama blindly. i'm only pointing out what role cornell has devoted himself to over the past 6 years or so. 'obama naysayer' seems to be consuming a lot of his time. he doesn't like it that black people look up to obama. especially since he's not doing what cornell thinks he should be doing, it seems...

Right. I agree with West on some of the criticism he makes about Obama. But a lot of times he comes off as a bitter ass dude. Someone rightly said him and Tarvis Smiley come off as the Pinky and Brain of Obama haters.

The truth is that there are dead innocent children, women and men because of profiling and the person authorizing the violence from the profiling is the President.
These things cannot be argued:
1- The President authorizes every drone strike
2- We drone people we are not sure are terrorists but fit certain physical features and are not at the right place at the right time

1.) Are you saying his stimulus bill which is the first thing he did in office didn't help tons of blacks and lower income people? Millions of people? Can you honestly say that?
2.) Cornell been teaching white kids at Ivy league schools for years, not in them streets like Obama, or Sharpton ever were.
