Even for people who support things like the DREAM act or same sex marriage, it's ridiculous to think that those things should hold priority over addressing unemployment in the Black community....I mean, it's a no brainer.

Same sex marriage is nowhere near as important to me as unemployment, healthcare, etc. Actually, Hunter College did a study on the political opinions of homosexuals in NYC, and it turns out that the vast majority don't consider gay marriage in their top 3 most important political issues. At the end of the day, I think it's only middle class white people, gay or not, who don't understand the way these things should work.

Who do you think got to keep their jobs from the auto bailout? I live in Ohio and I'd say at least 75% of the older black people I know work for, or retired from the auto industry

He's given out extra resources to people who want to go to college. They call him the foodstamps president cause he extended benefits to college students, so they can concentrate on their studies instead of worrying about what they are gonna eat.

He's extended extra funding in helping kids from poor neighborhoods make it to good schools.

What more could he do to address black unemployment?

So Sharpton openly admits that he wont criticize Obama at all?

Obama never said he was going to be the Preisdent of Black America, this is true, but why does it seem like whenever he is addressing an exclusively black audience he is talking down to them? Am I imagining that? I think it's fair to ask why he can address things like gay rights so forcefully and try to push through garbage like the "dream act" for latinos meanwhile whenever the plight of black americans is brought up the instant reaction is " he's the President for all Americans, not just Blacks" that's bullshyt to me and I can see how that upsets people.

Why is it that when Obama is addressing black people it's basically "you guys are on your own, you guys are in control of your own destiny," but he can't tell these fukking mexicans to stop coming here illegally? Oh, that's right...he needs the latino vote, while black support is virtually guaranteed.

It's not really about the black vote being guaranteed.

Obama is already accused constantly (especially on FOX News and right-wing talk radio) of being a "welfare president" and pandering to black people (at the expense of other groups). It's not remotely true but if he started addressing black issues more directly a lot of whites would go crazy and accuse him of being a racist, ignoring other groups, etc., and he was trying to get re-elected.

I don't advocate being afraid of FOX news but I can see from a political standpoint why he took that approach...hopefully it changes in the second term.

To , he's a sell out now. Because he's not helping out the black community. When I don't remember any of his promises "solely" focusing on "enhancing" the black community. He had a more "generalist" campaign focused on something for everyone or appeasing all sides. (reduce student loans, dream act, gay marriage etc. )



It is what it is, low key I understand where Dyson & Sharpton are coming from. When they state "criticize", I'm sure they mean within reason. The president is a rather smart, calculated, analytical dude. No need to criticize his every move like the media tends to do.

Remember he had to tone off his "swag" because the media was constantly over blowing situations for no reason.
