The fullbacks have indeed disappeared

Strange phenomenon
Until you remember the going rate for forwards compared to fullbacks. Money talks.

If a kid is good on offense, they get moved up to forward. If they're good on defense, defensive midfield it is.

Fullbacks were never the most prestigious position, to begin with, so it's easy to sway them into playing in a position where they get more of a spotlight.

Eh…but decent wingers usually become great fullbacks. When you aren’t good or better than the best on the wing you could make a seamless ish transition to the defensive wing back or full back. Theres still opportunity for the marauding defender who’s good on the ball and can put in a cross so it’s very strange still Brazil didn’t have anyone to pick

Guys like Frimpong, Cancelo, Mendes, Walker, Semedo…who else? Brazil was the blueprint for that player

They don’t have the players to be different
You can have the middest of mediocre squads and look competent under the right manager/style. As weak as this Brazilian side is -and I continue to ask if there's better options at midfield because holy fukk does it look dire out there- nothing excuses playing like this for 12 months now.

After Tite made them competitive again, it's amazing to me that the CBF was like "fukk it, who cares :manny:" and let them crash like this not even a decade removed from those dark years in the mid 2010s.

wheres the jogo bonito :mjtf: :lolbron:

No team playing against what Uruguay did last night is capable of playing great football. And with the way Comnebol refs are.

A lot off yall have never really watched a lot of South American football. Most off it ain't pretty. And if the ref allows fukkery, it turns into what we saw last night.

Brasilian teams go through this all the time in Copa Lib away matches, especially if they have a "Wonderkid". They're getting kicked, tackled, for the whole game.
