I got it but I'll use some teams as examples. You know those deals like the 76ers use to give to guys like Covington. The Lakers seem like they have a constant depth turnover and don't lock the developmental guy's into longer term contracts. Basically the Hinkie specials. The Heat and Raptors are some of the better teams at that lately basically those end of bench guys that they tie into 2-3 season deals who end up becoming productive depth.
The young guys on those low 1-year deals aren't interested in longer deals. They want to ball out for 1 yr on a team that gets a lot of attention so they can try to get a big contract the next summer.

For every Caruso that pans out, there are 4-5 other young guys who don't last in the league.

most def but these guys are on those team option deals where you can cut sling on them. I'm talking about the end of roster developmental types. Basically like how the Mavs drafted Hardy and put him on a longer deal.

Lonnie Walker for example would to me be more valuable on a 2 year or 3 year deal right now. During free agency (I know he's Klutch) couldn't they have used that MLE on a person who stays around longer? Not saying anything is wrong with Walker but I would for example have liked him better on a 2 year team option type of deal. Because if Walker remains healthy he will most def not be playing for the MLE next season.
They could have given Lonnie a 2-year deal. But I think he wanted to get back to free agency sooner.

Guys like Reeves, Gabriel, I would think they should have done the Hinkie special with them.

One thing I give LAL credit for, they know how to scout.

Us Wizards fans are gushing about Tommy finding Jordan Goodwin. I wish we had 3 more guys like that who could shoot

A lot of my cousins are Wiz fans. I always tell ‘em that y’all need someone there that can develop talent. It’s like unless they are a top flight blue chip prospect yall young players don’t develop like that.

I was tellin em the other day I’d love to get Rui on the Lakers for the right price.

Reaves makes defenses pay on offense hitting open shots and creating while Caruso still clanking wide open shots. Defensively caruso is bette due to athleticism but reaves ain’t no slouch due to his iq

Nah breh, we were deprived of the Reaves to Caruso alley oop special this shyt is a travesty. Had they kept Cac Mac 10 shyt would’ve look like a cocaine murzik x Laker collab :skip:

It’s more that they don’t select the right players.

2020: We should taken Halliburton instead of Deni. Wall was coming back, we had nothing behind him and they ended up trading him afterwards.

2021: Kispert will have a long career. So I’m not tripping but Trey Murphy may have been the better choice.

With the Lakers pick from Russ trade, they wasted it on trading down getting the worst Holiday brother and taking Isaiah Todd.

And in 2022, they took Johnny Davis and in retrospect trading down and getting Tari Eason or Jalen Williams or AJ Griffin even looks much better!

Tommy Sheppard can’t draft!

Yeah that’s definitely another issue but even when y’all do get guys with some potential it usually takes them leaving to another team to realize that potential.

That’s a bad look, if the Lakers can develop undrafted bums like Reaves and Caruso then y’all should be able to as well. I think Leonsis just don’t care or can’t be bothered with hiring competent staff.
