I'm not mad at this take. The singing is the worst part of the album for me too.

Interesting to me that Piano Love is in your top 3. It's hard, but overall in the deep roster of ConChemist songs, it's in the bottom half to me. I'll put it this way...as a Lulu leftover, there's nothing Al is doing on the beats and nothing Con is saying on the raps on Piano Love that I don't think each of them did even better on Lulu.

Disagree this would’ve been a standout on LuLu. Feels like vintage Murda Muzik. Imo this should’ve been the intro shyt is dark and spooky glad I didn’t play that joint. Track encompasses everything I like about con and Alc collabs

I'm gonna actually throw it on my Lulu playlist and just let it rock and keep an open mind. I know I sound like I'm hating. :snoop:

One thing I loved about Lulu is that it's real dark and have heavy drums and stuff, but also most of the beats have colorful and trippy samples. The lady signing kind of creepy like on Gold BBS. The weird pill bottle rattling and door knock sounds under the synths and eerie vocal samples on Sonny. The guitar licks and the crazy sounding instrument that comes in later on 14 Ki's. The strings that mirror Jaws and the cover art on Shoot Sideways. The deep space synth lines and laser sound effects on Calvin. The video game soundtrack music on Contract.

Piano Love is a one bar loop, and super simple. It's dope as fukk, but just seemed a little less "musical" to me than some of the Lulu beats. I'm gonna let it rock on this drive though. I'm guessing it'll sound dope in the playlist.
:wow:

This is solid but I feel like From a King to a God succeeded more at what this album was going for.
I don't disagree. That sounded like more like what I'd envision a major label debut from him to sound like.

I think the only 2 things I'd point out are that A: we could never have gotten FKTG on Shady due to most of the songs using samples, and B: I think he specifically wanted to have his major debut also have his most personal music ever on it, and GDMM has more of that on it.

Also, @W.I.Z.E. you make some great points, but just wanted to add. I went over to the hiphopheads sub-reddit and read a lot of posts over there from people that never heard Conway before today, and this is their intro to his music. Crazy positive feedback there.

I think existing fans of his are gonna be more critical of this than general fans that may not be as familiar with his work. I think there's enough great shyt here to sell new people on paying attention to him going forward.

On its own I appreciate how lean this is. Easy to listen to in one sitting with no skips. But it really don't feel like a major label debut. Not that it really matters but it doesn't feel like Shady Interscope really gave him a bigger budget than he was working with before. Justice League beat was a cool unexpected surprise but overall feels like an independent album that's not going to expand his audience at all. Burden of Proof for example felt more like a major label debut even though it was independent. Quality product though

I’m one of the few who is fine with Beanie verse. His voice is almost non existent and his delivery is off but he fit the dark vibe of the track. This album could’ve used a knockout punch for an intro like FKTG had. Something where Con just spazz on a dope beat followed by Lock Load.

Never been a huge fan of Novel but the track is cool. I def needed a track with WSG on here. Something like Spoonz would’ve been real dope.

Chanel Pearls is a real commercial current era sound type track but it’s dope. Dope bounce and Con went in and so did Jill too. Def a highlight on this album.

This is a dope project. I might set my expectations a bit high and I'm not disappointed but I don't fukk with the individual tracks as much as I did on FKTG, but the fact that he went personal on here...Stressed and So Much More are some of his best records period. This being as good as FKTG isn't even a bad thing given how strong that album was

He raps a lot about Bell's Palsy, but like...in all seriousness, if you were reminded of getting blammed in the fukkin head every single time you saw a mirror, I think it'd be on your mind a lot.

I made peace with that a long time ago. Conway is always gonna rap about getting shot in the head. He would've been another failed mixtape rapper with a regular job right now if he hadn't had his face paralyzed, and he seems to admit that on the title track of this album. It's a little different than 50, because 50 didn't have to learn how to walk again and speak again.

I'm impressed that he can still find ways to talk about it and have it sound fresh, or add new elements to it (like how he chose to stop physical therapy for it.)

Greetings Earthlings is an accurate reflection of what I'm expecting more from Conway, because it was literally recorded just this month.

Tbf, he kinda did, perhaps not to the degree Conway had to.

Been waiting for this album for so long, but haven't been able to listen yet :why:

im sorry. but I am cutting Beans verse off Lock load.
Beans was cool on the Dave East track years ago with the flow he got now. but now...no

Wayne verse on Hitler 8 > GDMM.
the whole fast flow was saying nothing. he had his spots but the verse was just cool
Ross verse wasnt bad but it felt phoned in...if this was just a Ross song, it'd be nice
but after Conway verse. Wayne and Ross really wasnt needed

love Piano Love man. its a track consistent Conway type track

that Drumwork verse is a rewind worthy ass verse
a gotdamn Laviska Shenault reference on a track
