I saw a dope documentary a while back that talked a little bit about that. Basically they were getting e everyone used to the grey alien image so if / when they show themselves there won't be mass hysteria. I couldn't find it on youtube but it's called "Paul". I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.
