Congo’s problems in the colonial era started with France/Belgium/Dutch.

However, post-independence, it has mostly been US/France/Israel (a lot of the mining companies are owned by Israelis) - with the UK/Germany/Belgium on the peripheral. Then you also have African countries like Rwanda & Uganda abetting the problem.

Congo is a classic example of a basket case & it exemplifies resource-curse. The country is too resource rich for its own good & it will never know peace until the people stand up & fight for their survival - albeit they’ll need the backing of a super-power to pull it off.

They might need to study how the Algerians expelled France at a grave cost of over a million people - who died for the cause.
