I applaud them for trying something new and innovative. It may or may not work in the long term, but the status quo for policing in Brooklyn is just an abomination...racist, classist, and corrupt.

Na Brownsville, Brooklyn. Moved to Houston in 2011.
To be real, police don't really do shyt til after the crime has been committed and racially profile but having a community watch is better because they know the ins and outs. The BRC is a perfect example for keeping kids off the streets. That's where I use to go when I was a youngin while my parents were at work.
The prison complex will lobby against this

Not from BK but I love the idea of policing your own community. Gotta hold people accountable. Take pride in your area & build so you don’t have to go several miles just for fresh fruit etc .
I still believe the police have an area where they can still be used where residents can not be expected to handle.
Sadly the current police system has been far too corrupted by white supremacy. Needs an entire overhaul.
One thing I firmly believe is you should be required to live in the area you police .
