no surprises. the end game is to exert the same control over the internet just like tv, radio, and press. all these things tie together: net neutrality ruling, wikileaks, cable-entertainment company mergers, data caps, youtube deleting indy artists, etc...all that shyt. decades have been spent sculpting and controlling the information people receive and the internet unraveled all that effort in less than two. the internet also dented a lot of pockets particularly in the media industry. so yea your data will be capped and soon you wont even be able to blog without a fukking record deal or some similar look. just like you cant go on tv and arbitrarily set up your own show

that said google is on the same side and we should really be more angry with time-warner than with comcast for this news specifically.

These companies cap the fukk out of bandwidth as is, data was the next logical step. My beef is the prices we pay for shytty speeds. Then they got the nerve to throttle your shyt. :aicmon:

i think they use the speed as a way to force peoples hand. People really, REALLY believe they need 30mbps. Like people who do absolutely no computer work at all but just wathc porn netflix and facebook, are on some religion shyt about the fact that they need some 100 mbps :dead:. The biggest convo i had with a dude about how you need speed came from a dude WHO RAN A MINECRAFT SERVER, this nugget, was calling the ISP and begging them to up his speed so he could RUN A MINECRAFT SERVER. Not pass a massive video project you just made off, not to send a bunch of high quality photos to a client, so he could RUN A MINECRAFT SERVER. WIth idiots like that around it's no surprise peopel really bleieve they need all that speed, and when they need all that speed the company can go "OH WELL WE NEED THIS INFRASTRUCTURE AND THIS THIS THIS THIS AND THAT" and we all get fukked. These like gearhead type douchebags who have gotten into the computer world need to leave and stop fukking it up making everybody think they need this extraterrestrial type shyt.

3 days into the month, and we've somehow used 114GBs of data :mindblown: (250 plan.......)

Data plans are one way to ensure that extremely high data usage users do not negatively impact other customers using Cox's broadband network. While today a very low percentage of Cox High Speed Internet customers use their entire data plan, some customers far exceed their data plan and impact other Cox customers. Moreover, Internet usage is growing exponentially with all of the new devices, applications and streaming media available. Cox continually invests in its Internet service network to meet increasing demand, but data capacity is not infinite. Cox High Speed Internet is on a shared network, so your experience could be impacted by your neighbor’s service experience.
its always been like that, speeds have ALWAYS been lower during peak times.

these niccas aint shyt!!! :pacspit: :pacspit: :pacspit

Downloading stuff in HD will murder your bandwidth cap. Hell watching a lot of Netflix in HD will do it too.

porn :russ:

i mean lets be real here... 1 movie is a little over 1 gb.. you want a high quality rip and it's about 8 gb.. so that's either 200 movies a month or 31 high quality movies a month... and nobody is downloading that many REGULAR movies per month

another thing people forget is torrents have you UPLOAD too.. which counts... so not only are you being knocked for your downloads, but all that seeding is counting against your cap too

i don't know if steam size=download size tho... like sometimes i'll download a video off youtube and it'll be 200 mb... but i don't know if i just watched it, would it be that large... cause i can definitely see someone watching that much netflix, hulu, hbo go etc... especially if they don't have cable and have to download all their shows and movies

It's not that hard breh.

I don't have cable period. Only TV that gets watched is via an antennae.

Now I'm a huge NBA fan, so I got Ballstreams for the entire season. 720p streams of live games, every night there was a game on to watch. Then on top of that, I had to get my TV shows and my movies (my BRRips are usually between 8-15GBs in size).

And I don't even download like I used to, but everything is streamed. I have HBOGo, Netflix, ESPN app, Ballstreams, Showbox when needed... And all the other shyt I do online.
