More details brehs?

Perhaps you've never heard of white tea. But there's evidence pointing to the health benefits of green tea and white tea. They may help prevent colon cancer.

Antioxidants and polyphenols -- cancer prevention compounds -- are found in highest levels in white tea, which is the least processed of all teas, writes lead author Gayle. A. Orner, PhD, a researcher with the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University.

White tea is relatively rare and is found in specialty tea shops, over the Internet, and in some grocery stores.
Green tea, which undergoes some processing, has higher polyphenol levels than black tea, which gets the most processing, Orner says.

Her study of teas' protective effects against
colon cancer appears in the February issue of Carcinogenesis.

In a study involving mice, Orner and colleagues tested the benefits of green tea, white tea and a drug called
sulindac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that, like high-dose aspirin, has been shown to prevent progression of colon cancer and decrease the death rate.

Orner's study used mice that were genetically predisposed to develop tumors in their
intestines.

After 12 weeks of treatment, mice that were given white tea, green tea, or low-dose sulindac had significantly fewer tumors than mice that received no treatment.

Mice that received no treatment developed about 30 tumors. Those that consumed green tea had an average of 17 tumors. Mice given white tea had 13 tumors. Mice given both sulindac and white tea had 80% fewer tumors -- an average of six.

It's evidence that tea's effects on
metabolism can potentially block some cancer-causing effects, she explains. In fact, the concentrations of tea the mice got were comparable to those consumed by humans, she says.

"Therefore, this widely consumed beverage may be useful in the prevention of intestinal
cancer in genetically predisposed individuals," she writes.

"These are pretty exciting results," Orner says in a news release. "What's especially significant is that as far as we can tell, consumption of tea has none of the side-effects of
NSAIDs, which can be severe, including bleeding, ulcers, and even death."

The use of NSAIDS for cancer prevention,
heart disease, and other concerns is increasingly common with many people, and high aspirin intake has been associated with a 40% to 50% decrease in death from colon cancer, she notes in her paper.

To get the same colon cancer-prevention benefits of green tea or white tea, drink about three mugs of tea daily, she says. This is based on studies in Japan with green tea and gastric cancer, where researchers essentially concluded "the more, the better."

Benefits of Green Tea, White Tea: Fighting Colon Cancer

I work at an office job, for the past 13 years. Being from NYC, I work out during summer and spring, but I fall off during fall and winter - however, even though I don't work out much during fall and winter I maintain my weight.

Anyway, I spent my first 5,6 years at the job searching a legimiate doctor....I made up my mind that most of them are certified drug dealers who can give less than a fukk about your health.

I finally found a doctor about 7 years ago, Dr. Allen Lee out of Brooklyn. When I first entered his office he had two signs:

I'M NOT A MIRACLE-WORKER, IF YOU SEEK DIVINE INTERVENTION VISIT YOUR LOCAL PLACE OF WORSHIP

AND

I AM THE DOCTOR, I PRESCRIBE WHAT YOU MAY NEED, YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO PRESCRIBE YOU. I'M NOT A PILL DISPENSARY.

When I had went to him I had a pinched nerve in my lower back. Instead of giving me pain killer, he wanted me to try a "lifestyle change" first. He asked me about my sleep positioning, and told me to change it and sleep in a fetal position with a small pillow between my legs. He said try that for a month, if that doesn't allievate the pinched nerve, he'd prescribe me something. I changed the way I slept and my pinched nerve eventually went away.

Another time I went to him for a cold and he told me he drinks tea all day. Sometimes with Lemon and Honey. He told me to start drinking tea for the health benefits. I started 7 years ago and though the taste isn't great, I love how it makes me feel.

I could eat a muthaphucken roast pork, If I drink two cups of green tea right after, all that swine is leaving my bowels like a kid on a water ride. Don't let the bitter taste of tea dissuade you from it Coli Brehs!! Your future self will thank you for it. Just dress it up with some lemon, honey and ginger and you'll be straight!!!!

I shytted out everything thanks to Green Tea! Shout out to Dr. Lee!!!!

Very key...cure for everything but what we are being fed is killing us.

yea theres a reason why colon cancer is damn near non existent in africa.. compared wit us...

AA's more likely to get colon cancer cuz of the american lifestyle

that means processed foods for shelf life...

not enough exercise.. not enough sunshine/vitamin d.. not drinking enough water...

then alotta us dont see the doctor regularly for basic tests

in africa they dont eat processed or greasy foods like that and not alotta meat...

and they get plenty of sunshine being near the equator...

in america we don't get enough sun... specially a northeast city like NY...

cuz vitamin d by itself is gonna prevent alotta different cancers

last 20 years AA's colon cancer rate is between 40 and 75 per 100,000...

with Africans its only bout 4 per 100,000 :wow:

Speaking of vitamin D. Researchers wondered why we had low Vit D (the specific one they test for a lot) but not be high risk for osteoporosis. Come to find out is that we have adequate levels of another subtype of Vit D. Random but yea.

As far as the 25-hydroxy vitamin D which is what they test for. AA have very low levels of this. And it is cruical for so many body functions from GI to mental health. At minimum take a daily vitamin and if you do have insurance request to get tested at your fam doctor.

Edit: Also STAY THE fukk AWAY FROM RED MEAT. IT IS TRASH TRASH TRASH

I thought it was 40. Cause that's when I'm gonna start.
it's 50 but if you have a family history of GI cancers then they'll do it before then. Also more and more people are starting to get diagnosed with it earlier.

not as much osteoporosis is cuz our bone density is higher than other groups....

thanks to our ancestors...

cuz we dont just come from our parents... DNA is passed down many generations..

back in the day black folks got alot of sunshine.. even before slavery...

these days our bones be getting weaker as we get older.. when it used to be the opposite...

bones are supposed to get stronger and denser the older we get in life...

thats where the saying OLD MAN STRENGTH comes from :myman:

cuz vitamin d helps ur body metabolize calcium...

and if u workout in the sun all day like a farmer.. u gonna get alot stronger real quick...

facts but this was the article
How A Vitamin D Test Misdiagnosed African-Americans

we have fewer of the binding protein to Vit D, which goes back to our ancestors in Africa.

""The conclusion from this study is that just because your total levels are low, it doesn't mean we need to replace vitamin D" using supplements, Thadhani says. The study was published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine."

"But Thadhani says doctors should hold off on prescribing vitamin D until they do other tests to determine whether their African-American patients are really vitamin D deficient. Those tests include blood levels of calcium, bone density tests and parathyroid hormone levels."

yea alotta the medical testing is based on white folks health standard... cuz its their system...

they dont need as much sunshine as we do so they store extra reserves for the winter...

back in the day we used to be in the sun for hours every day so we didnt need extra reserves...
and for those with high cholesterol.. u know sunlight turns cholesterol into vitamin d :wow:

either way theres more we get from sunshine than just vitamin d.. its important to get the full blend of light wavelengths...

specially if u staring at a blue light screen all day... thats any tv, computer, smartphone...
