‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ Movie in Development | Filming begins in 2026

Fallout just isn’t the same kind of game that Horizon is. Fallout is about exploration and little quest and stuff. It’s easier to finesse with a lower budget. The most interesting parts of Horizon is not the tribal stuff.

Horizon is set up as the gaming equivalent of a blockbuster movie. It’s supposed to be what Jurassic park or Transformers is for movies. And you don’t see any of those properties attempting tv series as popular as they are.

Fallout is a post apocalyptic game and their budget was 153 mil, which was more than Borderlands. Avatar tv show had a budget of 120 mil and their world was heavy with CGI. Doing HZD as movie is gonna cost close to 200 mil.

With good writers and a showrunner who cares about the story and not have a Michael Bay mentality, it could be done as a tv show with a budget less. Follow formulas that’s are successful (Avatar and Fallout). they wanted to make Borderlands a blockbuster movie and it failed, horribly.

This shyt should've always been about the years prior to Operation Enduring Victory. I have no idea how you can make the base game a compelling movie or a realistic streaming/TV series (because of the budget). They had a much easier and grounded story to adapt with Elizabet Sobeck and Ted Faro's story with a couple of dope battles and 1 huge set piece (Enduring Victory). Plus you tackle global warming as a theme in a very interesting way.

Aloy's story is much harder to adapt after the the Proving (up to that point I can see a film doing a great adaptation) and you can't really translate the sense of wonder, intrigue and danger HZD had in a film if they are even able to make a Corruptor look "realistic" and somehow make a cool looking fight with it, I'd be beyond shocked.
