But the justification for banning diaspora wars never made sense in the first place because there are plenty of repetitive topics that can become toxic and they never made the decision to with no discussion or reaching out to the community at all until that one. That already happened. Mods put up a stickied post banning diaspora wars, said they would issue bans.
When it came time to ban people who broke the rules, mods reneged because they'd be banning people they were buddies with or agreed with.
Could have rooted it out, but buckled when it was time to lower the hammer. "Moderating based on agendas they like " is already a thing here.
People would happily pay to filter out the Bird Babble.

Can you edit the code of this place so it automatically picks up content posted from birdland - twitter, instagram, facebook etc.. - and places a prefix in front of it? Should be as simple as scanning the first post for the URLs and tagging the title automatically. That way we can support...www.thecoli.com
finally got around to making it
changevar replacePrefix = false;
from false to true to get the specific embed name. If you leave as false it'll show [BIRDLAND]
you can add more embeds mnually if you want just following the format.
Bookmarklet and Userscript Summary
The bookmarklet and userscript are two different tools that accomplish the same goal: to help users identify and categorize online forum threads that contain social media embeds.
What are social media embeds?
Social media embeds are links or snippets of content from social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook that are shared within online forums. These embeds can be images, videos, or text posts that are embedded directly into the forum thread.
What does the bookmarklet and userscript do?
When you run the bookmarklet or userscript, it scans the online forum threads on the page and checks for social media embeds. If it finds an embed, it adds a prefix to the thread title to indicate that the thread contains content from that specific social media platform.
How does it work?
Here's a step-by-step explanation:
Example
- Identify threads: The bookmarklet or userscript scans the online forum page and identifies individual threads.
- Get thread URL: For each thread, it retrieves the URL of the thread.
- Fetch thread content: It visits the thread URL and fetches the content of the thread.
- Parse content: It parses the content to identify social media embeds.
- Check for embeds: If it finds an embed, it checks which social media platform the embed is from (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
- Add prefix: If the embed is from a platform that you've configured the bookmarklet or userscript to check for (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, etc.), it adds a prefix to the thread title to indicate that the thread contains content from that platform.
Let's say you're browsing a forum thread titled "Sports News". When you run the bookmarklet or userscript, it fetches the content of the thread and finds a Twitter embed. Since you've configured the bookmarklet or userscript to check for Twitter embeds, it adds a prefix to the thread title, changing it to "[Twitter] Sports News".
Benefits
The bookmarklet and userscript provide several benefits:
Configuration options
- Easy identification: It helps you quickly identify threads that contain social media embeds, making it easier to navigate the forum.
- Categorization: It categorizes threads based on the type of social media embed they contain, making it easier to find threads related to specific platforms.
- Customization: You can configure the bookmarklet or userscript to check for specific social media platforms, allowing you to customize the experience to your preferences.
The bookmarklet and userscript have several configuration options that allow you to customize the experience:

- Check for Twitter: You can choose whether to check for Twitter embeds.
- Check for Instagram: You can choose whether to check for Instagram embeds.
- Check for TikTok: You can choose whether to check for TikTok embeds.

I'd like to know who bought or now owns the Coli before investing. I used to be a top 5 donor before the rebuild.
Donations might help. It's worth a try. I see all the posters posting about spending their disposable income on this and that so why not support the platform.
