even the poster looks boring
Uzak/Distant. A Turkish film.
It's about loneliness.
It's about isolation.
It's about the distance between a man and his relative despite living under the same roof.
It's also about as slow as a crippled snail trying to move up an incline. Made it 50 minutes before I cut this shyt off
How do I describe this...awkwardly dull? It's about a couple on their last legs but its not shown as interesting or dramatic as all of that. Played by the director and his real life wife on top of that. Not sure what the goal was because the rape(?) scene took me out of it for all of the wrong reasons.
Dude is 0-2 so far and I had the nerve to load 6 of his flicks on my sd card?
I heard good things about Once Upon A Time in Anatolia, Winter Sleep, and The Wild Pear Tree but godamn this was a poor introduction to his styleI liked Three Monkeys well enough.
I never got around to Anatolia but Winter Sleep is incredible. But it's also close to 3 and a half hours long and I know you have no patience.I heard good things about Once Upon A Time in Anatolia, Winter Sleep, and The Wild Pear Tree but godamn this was a poor introduction to his style
I'll give Three Monkeys a shot....at a later date. Knew I should've went with Kitano flicks tonight instead
this is STILL one of the funniest movies I ever seen in my life.
This was actually my first time watching it unedited start to finish. A few thoughts
- I was shocked this got a PG rating considering you see exposed titties, and all the crude, lewd humor
- Definitely one of the most influential comedies ever, especially for a lot of the "random" humor and cutaway gags that became popular in the following years
- At the same time it exposes the limits of doing gags based on current references, b/c later generatins are just gonna be confused. It was interesting to me to see which gags remained funny after 40 years; Like the Saturday Night Fever bit probably had audiences rolling in the original theatrical run but just got a chuckle out of me, but on the other hand Roger/Kareem had me
How do y’all go about finding movies that you want to watch. Do y’all have a list or just pick something randomly?
