The actors using their normal or neutral accents had me
at first but

The last hurrah for chivalry, john woo does this thing where a character is wearing white during a fight and they get increasingly bloody through out i thought that was dope. Plus the use of slow mo and how he moves the camera around during the sword fight scenes is pretty cool to see in old school style kung fu

Ive been on a john woo kick as of late, and this was always my favorite movie of his, so i decided to revisit it. Maybe its just me but during gun fights i dont see dudes splurting out buckets of blood like they do here. Anyway the movies overly melodramatic and campy to the point its downright funny at times, But i still love it. I didn't really like the subtitles on the newer blu ray release. I still prefer the criterion cut with the graininess i remember on the VHS bootleg i had
seeing it back when i was a kid. Chow yun fat is like the Chinese Cary Grant.
