The Hunt for Red October
A -to me- slightly overhyped movie, there is a constant tension in the movie which is both great but also adds to the monotony of the movie.
What is weird is that the Russians start speaking English at one point and never speak English again making it very weird (because they start off in Russian). Overall, a great performance by Alec Baldwin as a CIA-agent trying to understand why a Russian Captain is trying to split off from the Russian fleet. Connery is good, but his role as Russian Captain is very far fetched and unrealistic. 7/10
The Siege
Everybody's favorite black actor Denzel Washington starts as a police officer (SHOCK!) specifically working for the FBI. New York city faces a common foe: Muslim Terrorism. The city gets hit hard and you follow Denzel and his team while they try to find the culprits. This plan gets disturbed by Bruce Willis as a hardened army General who has different plans for handling this city. An overall relatively predictable movie that somehow still manages to keep your attention. As the movie develops, some very questionable things happen - but overall it's a worthy watch, it just gives very little insight into how Muslim Terrorism ACTUALLY operates. Washington's pushiness and drive to find out what's really happening works though. 7/10
