a couple of 6.5s about 1970s New York (Apprentice goes into the 80s)
@Peter Popoff
1) One day Chevy Chase woke up and he wasn't funny anymore.....
A dramatic reenactment of the 90 minutes before the 1st episode of Saturday Night Live which we find out only happened because NBC wanted to air reruns of Carson on Saturday Night and Carson blocked them because he wanted to get paid for it. SO NBC decided that they should get some New York comedians to do a variety show on Saturday Night instead. You learn some stuff like Billy Crystal was supposed to be on the show but was removed due to time constraints. And there are some laugh out loud moment like Garett Morris sound check and Chevy Chase and
Milton Berle going bar for bar. but your enjoyment of the movie is hinged upon how much you like 70s hipster New York.
2) If you're looking for effery, it's here. The movie starts off with our next president being the vice president of his father real estate company, which mostly means he goes around collecting rent. He seeks the advice of a flamboyant (in every since of the word) attorney on a civil rights case, and shenanigans ensure. Obviously, the protagonist has big dreams, and he uses the attorney as a mentor to guide as he makes broad swings). You get a treasure troe of Easter eggs along the way if you know anything about Donald trump, the third act is a warning sign for don't participate in gay orgys in late 70s New York which Trump get liposuction and hair implants.
