I don't fukk with the Oscars except for the Foriegn Film and Documentary catergory. Usually the choices are solid.

I will get through the documentary nominees eventually because I like documentaries and the choices are good.

But I watch this movie Close the other day and it is excellent. It is a Belgium French film and it won second place at Cannes film festival

It is NOT what you think at first glance and it is for real.

I remember trying to watch this but it was so slow I gave up on it.

It was okay. Had some pacing issues. Performances were dope. at her trying to defend that "ass" song.

This film is so underrated and entertaining.

On paper it shouldn't work and it sounds like some prime 70s/80s Hollywood coked out idea but it comes together really well.

Basically HG Wells invents an actual time machine but then Jack the Ripper uses it to escape the cops and travels to San Francisco in 1979, which causes HG Wells to follow him to the future to stop him killing more hookers in the Bay

But it works both as a fish out of water comedy and a serial killer thriller. Malcolm McDowell the GOAT is great as HG Wells. Mary Steenburgen is really cute in this too.

Dope film.
