my fiancee has so much choice when she shops.

men unfortunately have little choice in quality clothing and we definitely don't have competitive prices.

I find as i get older i'm actually not all that interested in shopping for clothes anymore. just the basics, come to think of it most of my clothes are suits/shirts/dress shoes for work

You think so? Men's clothing tends to be more expensive than women's, but if a guy wanted to, I think there are plenty of places for him to shop, depending upon his personal tastes.

for work/some play i go to gotstyle and harry rosen..gotta pay to play..

for casual or day to day i go to H&M, Zara..its the person that makes the outfit IMO

There doesnt seem to be a lot of middle ground in mens clothing, most of it is either very cheap or very expensive

I'm 30 and can put together a nice, age appropriate, but stylish outfit from Forever XXI although that store sells cheapy clothing for teenagers. The label doesn't define your style. I'm a big fan of stores like Marshall's and Winners because you can get quality, designer items for a great price. I love BCBG, their clothes are tailored well for my body shape. I'm not always going to spend $200 on a dress...that's on SALE for $200 mind you. Often times, you can get a BCBG dress at Winners for $60-$80. Or, I'll go to BCBG and try something on to get an idea of what my size is and then find that item for less on ebay.

You're gonna be hard pressed to find quality clothing for cheap for men or women.... women may have a lot of cheap stores geared towards them, but the quality is trash. Then you have some places where the clothing is expensive and the quality is still trash LOL

Clothing quality in general has declined over the years... things just aren't as sturdy or structured as well as they used to be. You have to pay a little bit more for quality pieces now (which I'm willing to do).

I agree with you that the person definitely makes the outfit.

It talks about the history of design labels like Louis Vuitton and Chanel and how people's perceptions changed over the years, especially with the introduction of fake designer goods. People would rather have a fake Louis Vuitton bag, even if the quality is crap, than a genuine leather purse made of a fine quality, but not by a designer label. Fashion trends don't last long for this reason: one season something is the IT item and the next it's out of style. This results in more consumption.
