She's not right. Vegatables are damn near 95% water and they not flavoring shyt on thier own. Dried seasoning are concentrated forms of let's say onions, so the flavor would be more bold.

Ima let her cook tho
It depends on what you're cooking. If you're making a sofrito base, you're supposed to sweat it order to bring out the flavour.

I also find that dried herbs can be too potent. Depending on what you're cooking, you might be aiming for subtlety.

She’s not wrong, a lot of people are showing their lack of cooking knowledge.:mjpls:

Vegetables can be seasonings, they’re called aromatics like garlic, onions, shallots, ginger and peppers. You sweat them off in the fat you’re cooking before adding your ingredients. She’s also correct about salt and acid, a lot people don’t layer their seasoning while cooking.

Some things need that Salt Bae sprinkle tho:ld:

I get the point she was trying to make, but it doesn't help with the fact that some foods need seasonings. It goes beyond raw veggies tho, maybe folks want to use something out of the ordinary.

For instance, my wife copped some Moroccan seasonings and the shyt made the food like :banderas:. With her logic, I have to go get my passport and travel to the fukking place just to get the ingredients needed for the meal. Sometimes, herbs and seasoning can turn a regular meal into a Julia Child masterpiece.

You also have to take in consideration of what people want to take into their body and their sensitivity to said ingredients. Like the video of her that chicken dish, those Trader Joe’s red sauces have a lot of sodium and she’s reducing it so she has to cut back on the salt some where.

Simple ingredients can only take you so far, it’s like with most skill sets, it’s the technique that matters in the end.

Square biz:ehh:. I had a ex that tried to cook and the food was so damn bland it wasn't funny. Yet my wife somehow just use a twang of onion powder (we avoid salt products since "high blood pressure" and trying to live until 80 on some Asian culture shyt) and the food ends up hitting.

Hell, I been on a veggie as seasoning wave especially with English cucumbers, red onion, and mushrooms.

Thought about doing some experimentation with veggies and marination. Cooking, as annoying as it is, can truly be so relaxing.

The Truth
I knew there was a reason I never cared for those “vegetables” :mjlol:

Whether she’s wrong or right idk.. but if nobody likes her food then she should probably buy some salt and pepper at least..

And my people don’t just use those seasonings.. especially peppers.

Americans associate high sodium levels with food, so if that shyt isn't present their body rejects it. That's a bad thing. And it's even worse for black people, who died more than anyone from high blood pressure and heart disease. How many funeral receptions have we been to for people who died of that shyt, and all the food being served is the exact type of shyt that killed them. Candy yams with a full packet of marsh mellows thrown in for no reason. Fried chicken bathed in salt. Overly salty greens. Brehs on the forum want to laugh at Lizzo for being obese but don't want to say anything about this?
Soul Food was a de facto documentary and people still ain’t learned. They’re gonna over season their food into an early grave. :francis:
