Im not even talking about everyday Americans, I'm talking about these right wing loons. I'm talking about those people who had Trump signing their bibles and praying for him and to him on Sunday. These people are not of sound mind and I dont expect them to act out in ways an average American would when they are not happy with the political climate in this country. I imagine them trying to gun down a bunch of random ppl in a Walmart, not an all out war.

That is a point you sleeping on. All those nazis are a part of that same military.

I'm not in the military, but I'm pretty sure that's not how things work. A few racist sympathizers don't have the authority to commandeer an entire branch to go AGAINST the constitution. A military coup would never work here.

Again to clarify - not a doubt in my mind that if Trump loses reelection there will be hundreds of deplorables who advocate or take part in acts of terrorism.

But I don't see some full blown Civil War, where thousands of supporters show up to guard the White House or attempt to prevent the next pres from taking power in some way. They will pop shyt, rage at what Fox News tells them to be mad about, dumb themselves down with AM radio and Facebook, and go off the rails with conspiracy theories.

NONE of that risks physically getting off their asses and literally going to war and facing potential jail time or death. They're not built like that.

The thing you all have to keep in mind about the racists and bigots in the military are that believe it or not, most of them are die hard "patriots". I encountered many of good old boys during my time in and outside of the uniform we wouldn't have anything to do with each other but have no problem fighting the "enemy" for each other.

The question here is how and where was their patriotism instilled - ironically, where were they radicalized? - will give you a good idea of who would hit the streets in civil unrest versus embracing an incoming administration who has the appearance of benefiting the country.

Good article...not to start a tangent unrelated conversation but one of the things that stood out to me as she ran through psychopaths is how those responsible for architecting the Holocaust are known. Their names are there so that they can carry the shame of their actions through history even though there are some who celebrate them, the victims have figures and movements to direct their anger and contempt at. Black Americans, we don't have architects of the slave trade to direct our anger and years of suffering at. We only have a group of people who could have looked like or descended from those responsible. That lack of a source of anger has aided in delegitimizing our feelings and continual treatment and standing in this country.

The whole series of thoughts just put me in a mood....

In addition to this, some of the most well-known perpetuators of U.S. chattel slavery are revered as our "Founding Fathers." :stephena1:
