His base will never go anywhere. They don't need galvanizing. If you are still rocking with Trump at this point it doesn't matter if he beats impeachment or not. that 30 odd percent(and I'll give +-8% margin of error) isn't gonna go anywhere. They're gonna ride him into the ground. But all of this may swing some independents and they decide elections.
As far as the economy being great. There may be jobs out here but it's hard to afford shyt. An economy will not thrive on jobs alone if there is no disposable income.

Support and voting for aren't the same thing. The same way voters in red states will support "socialist" policies like ObamaCare, 15hr, or worker's rights but won't vote for the Democrat candidate. Trump is going to win those southern states no matter what but the margin of victory in swing/midwest is about turnout of conservative Dems.
Struggling isn't something you can index or add numerical value to.
Like if you buy a house, the realtor only counts that a housing unit was sold. It doesn't matter if you can't afford nice furniture, fix the leak in the roof, make enough for daycare 5 days a week because the house payment is too much.
The 08' crisis was something that was visible in all parts of the economy. Jobs numbers, empty houses, repos....etc.
