all of them just sat back and waited on the script.
New Day simply were able to outperform the shytty script and catch hold.
New Day said flat out they basically waited for the initial incarnation of their gimmick to bomb before trying to convince Vince to let them have the reins. Miz and Punk spent years doing what they were told before getting any serious consideration, Miz especially. No one is just storming into Vince's office and telling him what they are going to do.

I agree that the onus is on talent to go to Vince or Trips or whoever and try to push ideas or what have you. However, let's not act like 1. it's that easy for everyone and there's zero risk involved and 2. that the simple sharing of ideas is enough. Cody himself said he would go to creative with ideas all the time, and they would just turn around and tell him he had to keep being Stardust.

On one hand, I think the WWE writing is terrible, so I think that has a huge point in all of this. On the other, I think when you're an NXT character, you need to be thinking about A) how to enhance your current gimmick and B) What could be your next gimmick. That transition from NXT to the main roster could kill your character if you aren't ready or if you can't build on your current gimmick.

Did everyone ignore the second part of the tweet where he called himself out on getting complacent, too :snoop:

You nerds can't even read 140 characters before getting mad now.

Finn got the biggest, most immediate push anyone has had in recent memory. One year on the main roster Shinsuke wins WM and is headed for a big time match at WM. The Drifter is in the middle of a big push. KO has been Univ champ, Samoa Joe has been an upper-mid to main eventer, getting a Brock Lesnar feud and match, Corbin got a big push, Jason Jordan got a dumb idea that was still a big call followed by a push. Roode stepped right into big programs on the main roster.

Some NXT acts bust on the main roster as they have no idea how to use them, or they'd just never translate to a bigger audience anyway. Others have been immediate successes, others have been pushed over and over again. There is no WWE vendetta against NXT. They legit try with all the big NXT stars
Yeah Ascension and Breeze would like a word with ya

Cody might be ALL TIME levels of corny and having zero swag, up there with his peer Curtis Axel. I don't think I've ever seen a play fighter get more chances, just because he came from Dusty's nut. He had like 5-6 gimmick changes and they all flopped :mjlol:

Now he's playing some bootleg Flair character, doesn't come across as believable in the slightest, just a fan who is playing wrassler and everyone around him is scared to tell him how wack he really is

Sounds like BS because he wants HHH and Vince to hire him when his run is over.
I remember him when he left specifically being because he had no opportunity to advance, which is the reason most people become complacent and just count the checks.
Why try when you know it won't matter and if you do connect with the audience the company will kill it.

Hold on though, when he couldn't advance he went and showed how good he was instead of being lazy and just might get another chance with WWE and an advanced spot. He could have just sat back and collected a check but instead asked to be released.

So that would mean its in his best interest to not burn bridges with the WWE.

Why would you burn bridges if you never really had a problem with them? They weren't using him, he asked and got his release and then did something better for himself .

What he's saying isn't just true in wrestling, it's true in most work places. Someone gets a raise or a promotion and their workrate drops They typically stayed later and came early (which got them the raise or promotion) but now they come late and leave early. He ain't kissing ass he just telling the truth .

He burned bridges leaving saying they never gave him opportunity.
Now he is saying he had opportunity but was lazy andmost people who aren't doing things in the WWE are lazy.
This is bullshyt because we know for a fact how the WWE operates and how they will tank a person if they think they are getting too much love from the crowd and its not directed at who they want.
We saw this with Bryan, we saw it with Punk, and we've seen it with others.

Miz has stated he pitched the Hollywood gimmick himself when he came back in 2014 and he's been running with it ever since. New Day basically outlived a shytty gimmick and when there was nothing else to lose for them they got control of the gimmick and have run with it ever since. Nobody in the E writing room could've expected "stupid idiot" and "list of Jericho" to be a thing. There was a point where everything Jericho said was money because he knows how to deliver. That was all him. Especially considering before his 2016/2017 run, he had 2 shytty comeback runs.

Right... but ultimately the worst that can happen is that they reject your idea. At the very least, that beats not saying anything or not even having any ideas in the first place.

Some of these dudes were probably just more impressive around other up-n-comers than they are around bigger names. There's a huge difference between Braun Strowman and Tyler Breeze. I knew when Breeze came in with that selfie stick that it wasn't gonna break in well on the main roster... kinda surprised The Ascension didn't do well tho'... I still think Apollo Crews was brought up way too soon... Baron Corbin was never that good to me, and IMO got way more push than he ever justified... but I don't think any of these people got 'ruined' once they made the roster. Hell, people forget Xavier Woods came in from NXT and was wack AF for almost a year before the New Day, he definitely got better. Elias is doin' better than he was in NXT. The Shield all came up from NXT. Owens was highly-touted before he went to NXT, so I don't know if he counts but there's another one who was natural soon as he hit the roster. Some are gonna do better, others won't.
