when was aew beating raw? meltzer always says that. where was I when this was a thing?

let me guess, it was in one random specific demographic :pachaha:

He said in the clip they were getting close and that was during September after All Out and towards Grand Slam. That was with overall ratings when they were pulling like 1.2 mil and 1.3 mil to Raw's 1.6 and 1.7 . They were leading or tying in the demo during that time and after though. I get there's people who dont buy the demo thing even though thats how the show's are ranked.

Ppl ignoring the fact that the Elite don’t try to bury ppl if they not on they nuts, wrestlers who get more love, ppl who don’t worship them (FTR, Punk, MJF, Cody, JR)

What? The Bucks are split 1-1 with FTR, and their second match was a banger in which FTR won. MJF's booking is squarely on Cody and Jericho, who decided to take him under their wings. Punk is the heavyweight champion who beat their anointed guy Hangman for the title. And JR? :mjlol:

Still wouldn't change my statement.

Kinda but I feel like some of these guys wouldnt even do this if he didnt encourage it also. Im not sure what hes thinking but that Keller report now makes it look like he engineered Punk to go out there and shoot

We literally don't hear about demos with any other show. Demos are for advertisers trying to sell stuff, and Bischoff already told the truth about how wrestling has a hard time with advertisers no matter the demo. We never heard demo talk in wrestling until 2019, and demos have been around for ages.

The problem with this is that it makes Hangman look like an absolute bytch. Working the fans needs to benefit both wrestlers, and if this is a work then these current wrestlers need to be taught how to do it correctly.

I see it that Hangmen page is gonna get involved this Wednesday and that's gonna set up a 3 way with Punk,Mox, and Page.

There was a time when AEW was regularly doing 1.2 and 1.3 million on a weekly basis?

News to me. Can someone confirm?

You do

Especially with Wrestling back in the day. It was never about the overall vieweship, which was impressive. It was that they were devouring the bulk share of the 18-49 demo pulling 4.5 and 3.4s. Thats why Wrestling was on the cover of TV Guide and why people said Vince had the midas touch with the youth and why these were coming to MTV and the Teen Choice Awards lol
Think about all those times you watched a news special on why wrestling was hot, go to youtube right now and find an old news story, they'll bring it up

To this day when you go to websites that release TV ratings, look how they rank what place the shows finish. Its by Demo. You can see some shows have higher overall viewers but look where they are ranked for the night, by the demo:

When media outlets release news on how a show does ratings wise it mentions the demo :

Most people for decades who even discuss shows and their cancellations/renewal talk about the demo. Its something thats been around for ages

Of course over the past 20 years, shyts been diluted with more choice on tv and outside and the argument has been made that the same demo that people still value because of avertisers, those people dont watch TV like that.

Bischoff wasnt telling the whole truth with that. Advertisers were still going to Raw back in the day cause once they saw their target audience still tune rather than boycott the edgy shyt, they doubled on the sponsporships. What hes leaving out was they were under Turner and TNT was Classic Movies Channel that played some sports and they struggled with the edgy content.

September 2021
Was there best overall month. That was when All Out happened, Punk was in, Bryan was in and they had Grand Slam. August 25th to September 29th

After that when the Baseball season started in October and they were pre empted and not aired in all markets so they were getting there ass kicked cause of that.
After that was going head to head with NBA on ESPN and they were between 890k and 920k. They cracked a mil the Dynamite before Christmas and I think that was the Sting/CM Punk/Darby vs MJF/FTR Main Event so that makes sense cause I see people wanting to see curosity factor of Sting and Punk together.

From July 14 to October 6 2021. They were regularly averaging around 1.11. I mention this timespan because of the news surrounding cm punk/Bryan Danielson

In the month of September 2021. They averaged 1.19

I had no idea AEW was ever averaging a million. thought they've been stuck around the 900's since NXT moved, and every milly was outliers around the time they had those massive debuts.. I thought ratings always immediately fell right back in place once the big moment passed.

but if they were bringing in a milly for months or whatever ya'll saying, and not just some here and there shyt.. I stand corrected :leon:

RAW must have been down bad if they were losing to 1.1 million in viewership. what were they averging?

Advertising and licensing fees from the cable/satellite companies are how the channels make money. The advertisers care about the demo ratings. The TV channel companies aren't going to keep something on TV if it doesn't generate the advertising money they need

Reschedulings because of MLB and NBA really fukked up their momentum
