I've criminally slept on them in 2002 but since their We Got It 4 Cheap, Volume 1 Mixtape i'm a fan. Still. And their Raps aged very well

sure, alot of those clipse beats wouldve went to another rapper, so yea, they wouldve improved anyway. im just saying that the clipse album added validity to the neptunes. one of the knocks on timbaland is that he couldnt produce a great album.

Put me on to those dope beats and/or clipse songs that validated them please. I didnt fuk with clipse. Felt they were run of the mill guys who were only poppin through association like kelis.

I never liked the Grindin single....I think I was missing a lot of my older school artists and sounds and the Clipse first single seemed gimmicky and thirsty for radio attention. I think I was working at the record store at the time and got a copy of the album. I gave it a listen...and even though I still wasnt feeling Grindin...I thought the rest of the album was great. I have been a fan every since. I dont know if I would say they are criminally underrated though....there are a lot more who have been slept on worse. I do feel they didnt get the commercial success they thought they would achieve following Grindin.

I think thats where the discrepancy comes in as to whether they are underrated or not. I am not sure many people would call any of their work classic. Great work but not ALL TIME GREAT work. If I were rating by the Source system, most of their work wouldve gotten 4 mics. 5 mics being classic material.
