It’s bad optics to make your franchise cornerstone wait til the last moments to get extended.
Maxey signed last min and he more than deserved it last year but they did it to sign a max player. Bad optics or not, it was the right move

Yeah, the local media is calling it major optionality. I’m calling it bullshyt because of the owner. He’s not about to dish out all that money and pay the tax. Stone is setting things up nicely for the Rockets future but it’s futuile Without the owner consent.Isn't that mostly due to them wanting a max slot this offseason?
I agree.Maxey signed last min and he more than deserved it last year but they did it to sign a max player. Bad optics or not, it was the right move
We’ll probably never see a situaiton again like warriors with all those big contracts(Durant , Klay, Steph, Iggy and Dray)Cleveland bout to be in the Apron with a middle of the pack team. I think we going to see more owners sell their teams or majority stake with these new cba cap rules, and these rise in contracts.
Philly did that strictly to have open max cap space and Maxey mutually agreed to it. Not every player is going to receptive to that nor should they especially with how teams try to screw players over all the time.Maxey signed last min and he more than deserved it last year but they did it to sign a max player. We giving max contracts to players who can’t shoot a three pointer now? Didn’t Cavs go on a run when both Garland and Mobley were out?Try too hard contrarians brehs

Yeah! That way of constructing a roster is done. Teams and coaches are going to have to get better at developing homegrown talent to keep competing rosters a little longer. We’ll probably never see a situaiton again like warriors with all those big contracts(Durant , Klay, Steph, Iggy and Dray)
That’s not even goin to work. That’s the big story down in Houston and probably why they made the trade to give back Brooklyn their draft picks. You get punished now for developing your own talent. Houston will be lucky to keep even 3 of their core 7 and that’s being generous.Yeah! That way of constructing a roster is done. Wasn't there also a big spike in the salary cap that offseason? It was a perfect storm of circumstances for KD to join the Warriors. That only worked because Steph was on a contract way below his value.
Another outrageous extension.
There’s gonna be a lot of teams stuck with terrible contracts with the new apron rules.
