why can't I fukking rep anymore?

anyway you got another argument after this?
:krs:

but that being said, with all I've read, what separates this album from a Stress: The Extinction Agenda? Is that album even a classic either?

Looking forward to see what you gotta say. P's 2nd verse on title track is legendary. Maybe his best.

Also....

Someone found the video in the 19th Anniversary thread too. It was kind of a wack video though :scusthov:

Absolutely
Stress was the type of album that i was thinking about in formulating the definition. That's why it has to be focused on the core hip hop community. I don't want albums that didn't sell well being overlooked.

Subject matter was not innovative, it was more a continuation of The Infamous but on a darker level and more of a mafioso element to it, which was being run to the ground in 1996 anyway.
Why would subject matter need to be innovative just for it to be a classic hip hop record?
I don't think HOE has a mafioso element to it. :jbhmm:
What makes you say that? :patrice:

Plus we were introduced to Havoc's enhanced production for the very first time, so all that put together, in addition to something as groundbreaking as Shook Ones makes it the classic it is.

Hell on Earth is an awesome follow-up, almost matching it blow for blow in quality, but it needs way more than that. I might be oblivious to what else it brings to the table, which is why I'm posing the question, asking anybody to convince me it deserves the CLASSIC label.
Infamous was an introduction to some of the interesting things Hav was doing with tempo (have you seen the videos of the Shook Ones and Survival the Fittest beats being recreated?). HOE is where that QB sound was set in stone. @BmoreGorilla already spoke on that.
@TheDarceKnight might be able to speak on some of the production science a little better than I can as well.

The thing is this is the kinda definition we can look back on AFTER we get all the classics listed, because it reflects on what this definition is taking about, consensus. I can only speak for MYSELF.
Consensus just means that you need to strive to take your own personal opinion out of the mix (it's impossible to do that 100% of course). A perfect example would be Bone for me. I'm not a fan at all, but I can't deny the EP and first album as classics.

Consensus just means trying to be mindful of when you might be in the minority on an opinion.
Otherwise, people can vote that Illmatic isn't a classic and Bow Wow's albums are b that's not what we are trying to go for with his.

nikka this is like saying Supreme Clientele isn't a classic because OB4CL is acknowledged more than it. There are 2 certified classics without question up there you listed and they are Hell on Earth and The Infamous any nikka that thinks those 2 aren't is a fukk ass nikka and that's on harlem :dame:

Supreme clientele is not a classic, at all.

nikkaz like it, but it is not a classic.
Just like ironman is not a classic.
Most of these albums nikka give props to being classic are revision and usually by people who really were nit around and trying to look cool with their revision based opinions.
