Lets talk about some comedies that you loved at one point...and many even cite as classic...but really don't hold up on rewatch.

Should be an interesting debate to get us ready for the September all-time poll :mjpls:

For me, I'm throwing out ANIMAL HOUSE and COMING TO AMERICA........

Yeah, I watched Coming To America today. The first half is still hilarious.....but the second half is rough. They almost completely dispatch the fish-out-of-water gag that was so well done and turn into little more than an odd twist on some pretty common romantic comedy tropes.

Still an all-time great comedic performance from Murphy though

Animal house holds up less because every damn movie that came after it copied it to one degree or another

Anchorman like most Will Ferrel movies would have better worked as an SNL skit and not a full length feature film.

That movie is literally just a bunch inter-related skits held together by a loose narrative.

The Hangover holds up but it's a one time viewing and it has to be with some other people also watching (and maybe beer).

This Anchorman hate is ridiculous and WIll Ferrell comedies are classics...Anchorman, Other Guys, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers are untouchable classics :ufdup:And The Campaign was good too

the Austin Powers series

Good point. I used to watch those 3 movies damn near every chance I got when I was a kid, but now, I never check for them...the 1st one is the only one that I still laugh hard at in some scenes (Dr. Evil and Scott going to the therapist is a classic scene)

the Austin Powers series

This.

Tried watching the first one the other day and came to the conclusion that everything Mike Myers has ever done with the exception of Waynes World has been trash that's catered to lames.
