This is the first time anyone put respect on france since the spurs won the chip

B0nd is right here. People gushing about this but back when turned based RPG fans were saying Square needs to pay attention to their core fans not abandon them for a fake Devil May Cry everybody wanted to act like we were wrong for saying that. This game is an indictment on Square Enix not turned based RPGs in general. A team of 30 people made a turn-based RPG that shit on their AAA teams of hundreds trying to make action RPGs pop in a series that was built up on turned based ones. It's like taking a Gran Turismo game and going people don't want racing sims anymore we're only doing arcade racers going forward.

There's been heat in the turn based space for a while it's just that the people who mostly just play Persona and Final Fantasy passed it over and this game woke them up. I feel like people are really gushing here because this game divorces the turned based RPG from anime ascetics most JRPGs have. This game allows people who don't really like anime and by extension JRPGs with that ascetic to enjoy a turned based RPG because many western developers (and partially even Square Enix) either ignored making mainstream turned based JRPGs or tried to downplay them. How you ever enjoyed JRPGs and didn't care for anime ascetics is beyond me. The two have almost always been intertwined.

Perhaps this sparks an era of western developers making turned based RPGs. That would be a positive but long time fans of the gerne haven't been feeling deprived at all.

stop weaponizing the game for your weeb desires and go learn how to parry

the 9999 limit really kind of locks you out from a lot of end game content. As soon as you get that picto you automatically start melting enemies HP bars. I got Sciel doing like 27k a hit now. You could beat some of those bigger open world bosses if you got a shyt load of patience and good reflexes but they were clearly meant to be fought in act 3

and it’s cheap as hell also with lumina which means they definitely want you to have it on everyone asap

clever gameplay mechanic introduced

I still don’t understand this lumina shyt… can someone break it down for a breh

Lumina = your skill point allotments

pictos = skill cards you collect to learn new skills

once you fight 4 battles you learn the pictos skill that you have equipped on that character, then you can use lumina points with your other teams mates to add it to their passive skill set

so if you have 25 points of lumina on a character, and a “strike first” picto cost 12 points you’d have 13 left after equipping it on that character

eventually you can increase your lumina allotment talking to an NPC

Depending on the weapon and spell you use you get stains. So the different colors correspond with elements (blue = ice, red = fire, green = earth, etc). If you look at the skill you use if it gives a stain it will say so at the top at the bottom of the skill it will give a condition. For example, lets say skill A gives you a red stain, each time you use that skill you gain a red stain, now lets say you have enough AP to use skill B and you notice that at the bottom it says 2 red stains = increased damage.

Example:
Turn 1: Use Skill A for +1 red stain
Turn 2: Use Skill A for +1 red stain
Turn 3: Use Skill B -2 red stains to increase damage

Some weapons have passives that will give you random stains when you complete certain conditions (ex. each time you damage an enemy with the free aim you gain a random stain). I just get 4 random ones and then use mayhem (attack that consumes all stains and hits up to 4 times)

A lot of these things have convoluted explanations but the gist of almost everyones move set is you have to build up their abilities to become stronger over time
