Bothsiders couldn't wait to run this thread :mjlol:

But in any case I wish him success.
lol there’s only 2 posts in here that could be taken as any criticism of the original post. You saw this thread and had it already in your mind you were going to post this.

As for the topic; im glad he’s trying to reach our men.

Depends on what you mean by "the game". Elaborate.
You know exactly what I mean by that. You got the rich and wealthy influencing members of Congress at the highest level, so it'd naive to think that it isn't happening in local governments as well. Before you try and argue otherwise, members of Congress from both parties have to Twitter on more than one occasion with the truth and how things operate in that realm.

I need examples of what you mean. Influencing them to do what exactly in local government? I'm not being facetious, I'm trying to understand exactly what you're saying to see if I can confirm it or not.

As someone that works in politics and runs campaigns and has won most of them, it's a lot easier than you think. But it requires commitment, hard work, and a strong will.

Most of the people complaining have none of those qualities.

Correct, that's why they use the "it's not easy" excuse.

If you don't have money behind you, you can't even win the school board presidency

Yea? One of my folks was president of the school board for many years, revered in the community. Solidly middle-class.

Most people just are not invested enough in anything to take on that level of responsibility unless it comes with "the bag" or whatever.

Surely he has to know that isn't necessarily that easy to pull off as it's other factors in play to prevent it from happening.

Exactly, being a school board president requires campaigning and that costs money, not on the level of a Presidential election but it's not free someone needs to pay for and hang those signs

I don't even think they get paid and if they do it's not much.

Influencing decisions or the lack thereof.

Well there's always going to be influence in politics but that isn't always a bad thing on its face. For instance, let's say a car company wanted to put a plant in your city and they start using their influence with the mayor and aldermen.

Is that a bad thing? The car company is doing it because they want to make money. But it's also creating jobs for citizens and bringing tax revenue to the city.

I have no issue with that.

Now the flip side is what if a nuclear power plant wants to put a toxic waste dump near your city? And they're trying to use their influence to do that?

Now that I have an issue with.

(I've seen both of these situations)

So with that being said, that still doesn't negate what I said before. Don't complain from the sidelines. Get involved.

The people who I helped get elected didn't have any history as politicians. This was their first elected position. And now they're in there making moves to help the people.

I respect that more than I respect someone who posts "both siderisms" on the coli all day and night, making defeatist posts about everything and when you tell them okay, get involved, they come back with excuses.
