and you're reaching for anything to besmirch chuck d, which is corny, you havent even actually responded to the actual issue that chuck d brought up, nobody has

everybody wants to pretend that there is nothing wrong with two black men making a song called nikkas in paris

I know because I dealt with PE stans before. Most of them love living in denial.

And as I stated earlier, Chuck's own backyard needs repairs, too.

And this is coming from a PE fan!!!!!!

Maybe i interpreted it wrong...but "nikkas in paris", along with the general tone/theme of WTT was more about empowerment, saying that we, as young black men from the "hood" are in places where whites, or a particular class of people don't want us to be.

I can ride with that...i can ride with young ghetto kids who could otherwise be dead or in jail doing things that are atypical of the experience of the life of somebody from that environment.

 @ "well why couldn't they say brothers instead".

everybody wants to pretend that there is nothing wrong with two black men making a song called nikkas in paris, its disgusting what the rap industry is trying to shove down black people's throat

I wasn't disgusted by the song, and nobody shoved it down my throat. Nobody is being forced to sit in front of a radio, or a tv, most people i know have absolute control over what kind of media they take in.

and that's you, i was disgusted by it and i never agreed to be referred to as a nikka in paris as a way to celebrate coming up, and neither did a lot of black people

i think a very unhealthy mentality is being promoted in the black community by selfish and not very forward thinking people

and i dont ride with that title becuase i think the use of the word nikkas is just an exploitation and is geared toward entertaining white people more than uplifting black people or black culture

and sunzoo, my friend, back in :hamster: you were known for writing odes to eminem and defending him with every fiber in your being and also writing essays on why its ok for white people to say nikka....so you have a very high tolerance for the word nikka and for white people, that's a data point we should take into account also

:leostare:

Context has always been at the base of my argument in any other conversation centered around that word. I'm not delusional enough to expect the word to disappear, or to think that it would actually change anything if it did. I also don't expect people who buy the music to censor themselves. I'm not going to fight to "keep" this word as if it's sacred, or abolish it, because i don't think it's that important.

But since we are taking :hamster: history into account, allow me to point up that you don't seem to have much of a problem with capitalism until it's a rapper involved. I would think that supporting the system and ideals that actually helped create and sustain racism would be more detrimental to black folks than disarming the word nikka.

The notion that chuck d needs to apologize for flava flav during the pe era is one of the stupidest and non hip hop things I've heard and motherfukers have the nerve to question my presence in this board, foh
I never said that Chuck D needed to apologize for anything you lying ass bytch.

:yeshrug:

I don't have a problem with capitalism when it comes to rappers, I've always respected the economic freedom and individual freedom of rappers and rap music

But as a consumer I have the right to say what I will support and what is worthy spending my money on, that is my role as a consumer in capitalism and my role under capitalism also includes being a critic

I don't accept the notion that capitalism creates and sustains racism, racism exists in communism, socialism or any other economic system

I point to education and culture as the key reason why black people are at the bottom, which is why I don't go along with the celebration of money that is being done in WTT, I think it's spreading a view of capitalism that is false, the way to be succesful in capitalism is through education not through spending money

WTT and a lot of rap music is more like a how to guide on how to be a broke ass motherfuker than a celebration of capitalism, black people would make more money getting a university degree in Paris than being a nikka in Paris and the key to capitalism is education and savings, capitalism is actually the key to black success

As far as the word nikka I have never said anything about censoring it or abolishing it, what I said is the overuse of the word nikka and other profanity is responsible for the limited subject matter and the creative constipation of rap music

I'm not calling for censorship, I'm just recoiling in disgust at the notion that I as a consumer would spend money to hear somebody say nikka, fukk, shyt, bytch repeatedly over a beat and then define that as black art, I can't support garbage, freedom of speech and capitalism doesn't mean that garbage can't be called out

This is because you're an idiot who doesn't comprehend plain English.

That's possible, or maybe you just keep changing what it is that you are mad about, flava flav was not c00ning just becuase he was a hypeman for PE and chuck d called out flava flav for his vh1 antics, so I'm not sure how chuck d is being a hypocrite

That's possible
At this point it's more than a possibility. Either you don't read and comprehend well, or you're just an extremely dishonest individual. It's obviously 1 of those 2. I haven't changed anything and I'm not "mad" at Chuck whatsoever. My position is exactly the same. Flav has always been a c00n, you denying that means absolutely nothing. Flav was the same person on those VH1 shows that he was in those PE videos and live performances. He was a buffoon then and he's always been a buffoon.

and that's a lie and a distortion of hip hop history, flava flav was not selling out or being a c00n by playing the role of a hypeman for a pro black rap group
