It cost one hundred plus million to make with at least fifty million in marketing, so it really is not that impressive.
:nolan:

It's very impressive. This is a British ass story and it's making a ton of $$.

The only movie this summer (or year) making that kind of money that's not based on any pre-existing IP or franchise.

Plus it still has some major markets to open in like China, Japan, Italy etc.

so :camby:

the fact that it's British is irrelevant it pertains to cacs and cac sensibilities. Knowing that the possibilities are limitless

What was happy about old Ryan crying at Tom thanks tombstone again? :why:

You confusing the OPENING SCENE with the ending....

Sacrificing a man's life so another can live his? Sounds like a perfect storybook ending to me. Now compare that to the nightmarish ending of Apocalypse Now.

The movie cost only 100M to make and is already 165M in just its DOMESTIC GROSS. It's at 400M globally and that's WITHOUT it being released in its biggest markets like China. I dunno WHY people assume Nolan is ever gonna flop? He never DOES.

Wolf Warrior II surpassed Avatar as the second highest grossing movie in a single market of all time. It was made on a $30 million budget and is also based on a true story. True movie of the summer right there. :umad:

Give it up breh. Slobbing asian movies all the time.

We're about to win tons of oscars and you're hyping up a movie that won't be remembered 2 months from now

You were the one who started talking about its box office success though.:sas1:

Of course, like the pleb you are, you immediately switch the narrative about awards it might receive months from now. Awards that were of course also given to such timeless and unforgettable films as Shakespeare In Love. :sas2:

While you reach states of unparalleled ecstancy (the state of being an ecstatic stan) whiffing Nolan's buttocks, the truth remains all to clear to the wise to see. :ducreux2:

It is an empty movie in more than one way too. I forgot this scene took place at Dunkirk too but I saw it posted somewhere else as a reminder of how a beach full of thousands of soldiers is supposed to look like.

Compare this shyt to Nolan's clean empty beach with 100 extras standing around doing nothing and it is almost disgusting.:scust:

This post/clip stuck with me when I finally watched Dunkirk yesterday. It was constantly jarring how the officers would talk about almost half a million soldiers being stranded on the beach, then they'd show an aerial shot with about six single file lines of guys that looked to be about how many people could fit into a theater.

I have mixed feelings about this film. It was beautifully shot, but there was zero emotional pull for me when it came to the characters. The sense of dread came through a bit, but it got drowned out by the score. I'm completely done with these overbearing Hans Zimmer scores. The sounds of the planes roaring overhead or the hiss of the torpedo going through the water was 100x more effective than the soundtrack being cranked to the max.
