fukk what u heard I saw this at the imax its lit. it ain't Saving Private Ryan but the visuals and sound are :ohlawd:

it's intense damn near the whole way Nolan did it again
It's such a different movie then saving private ryan it's difficult for me to compare it. Only time will tell, that's how good Nolan is, we immediately compare it to the greatest war film ever made. :wow:

I think NOLAN is vastly overrated. Interstellar was bad overall IMO. Inception was meh, even the Dark Knight is extremely overrated. So I'll go into this with similar expectations. yes they films might look good and there may be some nice shots, but in the end thats really all there is...his dialogue is .uhhh..okay. And the plots are usually uhhh...okay

:mjlol:

The Coli I tell ya..

This fool said Interstellar was "bad"

:francis: don't do that:russ: trust me if my friend didn't ask me to go, I would've been home watching tv or playing madden getting ready for football season. My sister saw it yesterday and then called me to complain about it. That's my blood, she knows what the deal is:wow:

I refuse to believe the posts about falling asleep in a movie with a score that LOUD

‘Dunkirk’ Is Too Loud For Some Viewers, But Christopher Nolan Says That’s the Way He Likes It
I watched it in that cinemark XD which is supposed to be louder then the regular screens, and I'm telling u, I was falling asleep, maybe it was the water waves soothing me or the boring ass direction of the film, but I legit dozed off a few times, and left the theater wondering what I just watched

I think I have seen all of Nolan's work, and I vividly remember watching "Insomnia" in 10th grade, and "Memento" on VHS in 2001, (forgot my friend's cousin renting "Following" in like 99 or so) I have liked his work in the Batman series, though it remains highly flawed, and always respected him as a filmmaker. Though, he has never been, or has steadily dropped from being someone I consider a favorite, though I think everything he does is worth watching, I did walk out of "Interstellar", it was late, and I was bored and tired, and just called it.

I thought this was incredibly done, the score, the direction, the visuals of the beaches, esp. at night were amazing work. I thought the Hans Zimmer score was very good, and helped convey the tension and triumph in all the small moments, which is where the movie really shined. Some obvious flaws were some of the more overly cliched scenes, with Georgie, falling and hitting his head, I understood why it was done, just felt very pat more then once. Doesn't mean it didn't move me in the moment. The dogfighting scenes were the least compelling to me throughout, (loved the end sequence though) and I thought at times the shifting narratives was jarring, as focusing on one person felt more effective and resonating. The acting was all first rate.

I liked the trimmed down war movie, and less is more approach, no 3 hour epics, no sob stories, (or limited ones), like overwrought movies of last decade "We Were Soldiers", this showcased the horror and terror, and resilience of war in 2 hours or under. I did lose track of characters, and I had some questions regarding chronology (The Day/Week/ cards baffled me?) but overall, I was more than impressed, and liked it much more than I expected. Never care much for Imax or 70mm, but I should have done it, can certainly see the appeal. Loved the shots of the Atlantic from up close, cold and unforgiving, murky green/blue, constant surf and the foam cast against the beaches, I thought he really shown here as a director. I also read about Dunkirk in my WW2 phase in elementary, and watching this jogged memories I had long forgotten about the battle, and the battered old blue history book I kept checking out of the library, I think about WW2 and SAS, RAF fighters in Dunkirk.

Watch it a 2nd time and you surely appreciate it more in regards of the timeline. Which should be a STANDARD in nearly EVERY Nolan film. The non-linear structures of most of his films have you overlooking key coincidences or see things from an entirely different perspective. Same with this film. The time jumps make total sense upon 2nd viewing.

The movie was amazing, if Nolan went with an rated R version with more blood/gore shyt would've been a classic. Nolan fukked up

It wouldn't work, IMO... plus I am glad Nolan veered away from the shock value for shock value in war films and relied on old-school suspense, fear, and terror. The fact that the Germans were more like the boogie men and were not shown and all of it were exclusively from those soldiers perspective made that film work to me.
