The music kept throwing me off. Saving Private Ryan is still the GOAT war movie.

I'll give Dunkirk 7/10.

Hoyte Van Hoytema was fukking :wow: I thought this dude was Japanese with that name but he's dutch? :dahell:
Van Hoytema is one of the great stories about the state of the Dutch film industry. He applied for the Dutch film academy multiple times and was rejected each time. Frustrated he went to Poland where he was accepted and completed film school, shot many tv-series in Poland and Sweden until he was picked up by Hollywood and became one of the most high regarded cinematographers working today.

Now media try to claim him as proof the Dutch film industry is still a big deal in Hollywood even though this guy was literally rejected by and in term rejected the entire Dutch film industry himself.:beli:

It is an empty movie in more than one way too. I forgot this scene took place at Dunkirk too but I saw it posted somewhere else as a reminder of how a beach full of thousands of soldiers is supposed to look like.

Compare this shyt to Nolan's clean empty beach with 100 extras standing around doing nothing and it is almost disgusting.:scust:

This one shot was better and more exciting than the entire Dunkirk film:mjlol:

I think NOLAN is vastly overrated. Interstellar was bad overall IMO. Inception was meh, even the Dark Knight is extremely overrated. So I'll go into this with similar expectations. yes they films might look good and there may be some nice shots, but in the end thats really all there is...his dialogue is .uhhh..okay. And the plots are usually uhhh...okay

Ironically, compared to the photos of that moment in history, Nolan's version is more accurate. Think about it. Men are trying to get off that beach as Germans are inching closer but that depiction shows mofos are merry and care-free.

Brehhhh I dunno about that blade runner is about to be lit... And Deakins hasn't won an Oscar yet? (how the fukk has he not won yet?) He'll probably get it based on that alone
He's 0 for 13 right now :dead:

Blade runner looks beautiful, but we also know there is a genre bias towards sci-fi even if Chivo did win for Gravity.

It'll be a good fight

Blows my mind, Deakins has so many classics and hasn't won yet. There's no way he doesn't win this year, sci-fi bias be dammed. Hoytemas time is coming, absolutely 0 doubt in my mind he doesn't win an Oscar within 5 years

I felt seeing it, it said it was cacs trying to survive and get out of that shyt in practically hopelessness. Churchill only expected 40k and got 300k brits back.

190k brits

Rest were french Belgian and dutch

I'm trying to think and I may have to see it again to check...
Cillian Murphy's had to be one of the characters that were left stranded when the destroyer was struck by the torpedo the night before...

We don't see the destroyer he was on get torpedoed correct ?

This one shot was better and more exciting than the entire Dunkirk film:mjlol:

Go look at actual dunkirk rescue pictures then compare it to atonement and dunkirk. You will see which is real and which isn't.

This movie is perfect to show students. It shows how war truly is and not some romanticized bullshyt
