don't feel like reading this whole thread and the articles... who is this fuss over exactly? I mean, i get it, the lack of non-whites is comical, but who are these people campaigning for?

-Idris Elba and Will Smith in lead actor? Will doesn't deserve it.
-Ryan Coogler in Director? There are only 5 spots, and that dude is gonna be a Hollywood darling for 40 years to come. He'll get his.
-Straight Outta Compton? You knew that never had a chance at a Best Picture nom.

What else? I'm asking honestly.

These mofos boycotting the wrong year. Why didn't they call for a boycott when Selma was nominated? They could've got Oprah behind it, nominated for best song and picture....THAT would've been a boycott. That's a stand, especially if they felt Ava DuVerney and David O both deserved to be nominated. And with it being a movie about King, that's how you make a stand.

Idris was in a Netflix movie. Do they even count those? Will didn't deserve it, Eazy Mitchell did but no one campaigned for him, and he wasn't really the focus in the second half. Michael B Jordan, I say no, but others say yes. As for movies, I think Creed was good but just another boxing movie. I think it has the same vibe as Balboa. For Straight Outta Compton, we all admitted that the film is all over the place for the second half. A lot of of felt that the second half would keep it from being nominated. I think Coogler will be a favorite for years to come. He won't get a nod for Black Panther unless he Avatar the fukk outta it. It can't be on some everyday-grounded in reality film. It has to be grand on the grandest of scales.

All I'll say is this, don't be rallying for no damn Madea or Lee Daniels soap-opera BS to be nominated. Or any of those average as romantic comedies or romantic dramedies or hood flicks. Come with your A-game.

:ohhh:
So the count of Monte Cristo was black? :ohhh:
What about the musketeers?

Porthos was black. I don't think the Count was ever represented as black, however Alexandre Dumas was black. But if you want a book to read, The Count of Monte Cristo is like 1500pgs with over 100 chracters. Sheesh. And don't let Spike near that ish. Give that to Coogler

yea but the movies that did get nominated weren't that good either, and the fact that they left out two spots just makes it look worse.. Fact straight out of Compton was huge, I see straight outta (wherever) shirts all over the world, not just amongst black people. So for that fact and the fact that it was a good movie it deserved an Oscar for best picture.. you can say its the wrong year to make a big deal but this isn't just about this year this is a culmination of all the years we been ignored in Hollywood, Hollywood wont even let us play Egyptians in their movies

There are enough black people in the entertainment industry with money and stroke to break away and create their own shyt.
there are a lot of black awards too and there was a black oscars

People like Will and Jada Smith couldnt be bothered to attend those ceremonies.

What an ugly human being, wonder which black b*stard fingered her culo to make her this disillusioned though. Her and raven sound like they've been having drinking games together on a 100 ways to make blacks groan
