Prestige is arguably Nolan's second-best film (after The Dark Knight). Memento is a fukking incoherent gimmick.
Stop trolling, memento is true Nolan it's what he was before the pretent(ion), heavy expositional babble and studios started throwing money at his projects

Although, I loved Prestige... that movie was more non-linear than Memento. Also, there's nothing incoherent with Memento or gimmicky. Now, FOLLOWING was gimmicky in its non-linear structure. 1st of all, the reason why half the film was going backwards was so we can see everything from Lenny's perspective WITH short-term memory loss. So, we see things purely from HIS perspective at that literal moment, only to reveal more of the truth as you go down another layer. Prestige may have been one of the best OVERALL films Nolan made, but Memento was one of, if not THE best written screenplays ever done by his filmography. He should of won that Oscar that year.

yo when this drops, someone @ me and spoil the shyt out of it, b/c im just not excited. awesome visuals, but man this still looks like a damn chore. would it kill Nolan to have a character smile in one of his movies? "why so serious?" is basically a tagline for his career. the guy makes good movies, but man... funniest moment of any of his movies was when Heath Ledger told Maggie Gyllanhaal she was beautiful.

every commercial is "Murph" (stupid fukkin name) crying, McC doing the TD scratchy mumble speak, Michael Caine being Michael Caine and laying out the grim stakes of the movie, corn field, cool looking space mountain, giant space wave, Anne Hathaway with that "fresh after crying" mug she always has, McC basically telling us he'll be back, title.

fully expect it to be kinda cool, melodramatic, a little too "smart" for it's own good, and happen at about 1:45 into the movie. at that point it will feel like I've been in the theater for a week.

Maybe you should go to a comedy or chic flick

A movie with basis in theoretical science produced and directed by award winning individuals just might not be for you.....

What was his second best then? And tell me why Insomnia isn't a great film because that movie was the first reason I started fukking with Nolan in the first place
Most Nolan fans view Insomnia his weakest (still a great film) because it was the one with the LEAST creative control over. Not only it was a remake, it was the only film not written or co-written by either Nolan brother. It was a mostly due to the great acting of Williams and Pacino that made that film good.

My personal favorite is Prestige, because of the layers it had and how on point the characters were to where you can watch it enough to even identify which twin is which. Also the analysis over obsession and ego. I loved the parallel of them Tesla vs Edison. Also, the non-linear storytelling is the most inventive I've seen in film reading (fake) diaries from the others guy's perspective's perspective. And somehow made it work.
