what's another 10 less. that's like me making 15 an hour.. and in order to work with the BEST crew, i'd have to make 13 an hour... or i could fukk up the whole project, working with the C-list crew, who wasn't on the job the previous 4 jobs...
yea i'm gonna go ahead and take a pay cut.. MANY actors and directors have taken a pay cut or put up their own money to help get a project done that they loved. cause they wanted the best in it, instead of just getting a check
how could he lose... he says he's giving up 10 mil to 10 actors... he comes off looking GREAT to the public, who gets a better movie with the same people... he looks GREAT to the actors and people in hollywood that he sacrificed money for quality... he looks GREAT to the studio, who just got bailed out of completely fukking this up with having 3 new major characters, mid trilogy... it'd be all wins... except 10 mil out of how much?? and he could even trade that in for points... lots of actors take less up front and want percentage
trust me.. he could work this out.... it's not like he's already NOT doing something... what if they call his bluff?? well now there's still no continuity for the next films... we still gotta change actors.. and now iron man 4 is fukked too cause he'll be replaced... which the studio will spin to say "RDJ took too much money so we couldn't afford to pay anyone.... blame him"

A series reboot implies they'd be doing the origin story again. Which means Peter Parker acting as a high schooler. Maguire can't play a high schooler again 10 years later. I'm telling you, Maguire reprising the role was never going to happen.
Spiderman movies made more money because Spiderman is one of the most popular superheroes in the comic book universe, and the first couple movies registered well with the public in terms of quality. But nobody was praising Maguire like they're praising RDJ. Check the reviews.

They've even made the Iron Man in UMvC3 and the EMH show sound similar to RDJ, because that's what he's synonymous with now.

for most people the reboot was too soon, but they did it for the late 90s babies who missed out the first time.
