Nike Cannon looks like he's channeling Ja Rule.

The film looks like a mix of Bamboozled, but with the bizarreness She Hate Me.

The thing is you could accept Damon Wayans weird performance after repeated viewings of Bamboozled. Nick just looks....eh...

I'll check it out. And I hope its great though.
Im gona give it a chance but i dont know what to say. Spike hasn't been behind the helm of an interesting movie in over a decade.

Name the "creative" Spike Lee films that were good the last 15 years? He nailed it with Bamboozled. So that gives me hope. However, when Spike deals with things in a more simplistic nature....he's better :manny:

now with that said. I'm hoping Spike does his thing and leaves everyone :ohhh::banderas:after seeing it.
That's what i'm saying he's made so many better movies in the past. Hasnt made anything worthwhile since the 90s.

I don't know if it's me but something about that trailer not sitting well with me.
I see many people don't really understand the definition of "satire" :snoop:
Like I saod before...spike has made great movies in the past. Really just so awkward to me...this trailer. These scenes. This is almost a parody...that seems very transparent.
Some things aren't meant for satire
I hope spike doesnt play himself with this. Honestly film wise with his body of work he is in goat category but a lack of cohesion in his last works is soiling that legacy.

I know what youre saying...
...but the hood is the hood...aint shyt different but a little bit of slang and whatever the local rib/chicken joint is called.

but it is odd how it seems they put no thought into how Chicago really looks...he could have still used the play angle w/o it looking like the gangs on Batman.

I wonder if Spike is just out of touch w/ his core audience.
Most (young) black folks arent going to want to watch this type of movie.

shyt does seem strange...im not an artsy type of dude.
I think he might be out of touch. I dont want to speculate so soon though.

I'll give it a chance.

I thought Bamboozled was a joke from the trailer. Until I actually watched it. :yeshrug:

Look like Spike is going the Bamboozled and School Daze route with this movie. :yeshrug:

I respect both sides on this issue and see where everybody is coming from...Initially after watching the trailer I thought trash but after reading that the movie is based on Lysistrata I can respect it...I'll say this though...the movie is titled "Chiraq"...I dont think Spike really understand the type of audience that is going to see this movie...the adults will appreciate it but a satire is not gonna fly with these teenagers...theyre going to miss the message and theyre the ones who need it the most

Pretty crazy since I'm taking a dramatic literature class and I just read Lysitrata so I can definitely see where Spike Lee is going with this film the story was about women abstaining from sex from their men to stop the war between the Persians and Greeks.
